Special meant of a particular kind or for a particular purpose and exceptional in quality and intensity!

Are you not special? Not of a particular kind? Not meant for any purpose? Not exceptional in quality or intensity? If you think you are not then it is true.

How do you understand "special"?

So many individuals wrestle with themselves all their life. Fighting to hold on to something -a feeling- of which they know not. Grasping and clinging onto this elusive feeling, that seems to rollercoaster thru our lives...

What is this feeling?

It's the feeling you are speaking of in this question. It can be called so many different things, yet the feeling is the same within all.

And, what I have come to understand, is that the feeling is only quenched by those that know how to let it go.

Hi!

This is a good question - because everyone of us is special in some way. Even apparently disadvantaged people are born with great giftedness. Sadly, many go to their graves having not opened those gifts.

Human society thrives on difference. It has been shown that when forming teams, those with the smartest people are not always the smartest teams - perhaps because the team insight is too focused in one area.

Getting others to know they are special has been a huge part of my life's work. It is a sad fact that those who are victimised often take upon themselves the guilt, the sense of worthlessness that rightly belongs with the bully or perpetrator. That may be because good people find it hard to think ill of others and are more ready to accept blame upon themselves.

Let's all celebrate that each one of us is a universe in our own right and that it is our connectedness to each other that makes life wonderful.

Good wishes.

"I" am a cause for suffering in others, this makes "me" unworthy of any title whether special or no....

I am not special, I am not defined of a particular kind nor for a particular purpose nor am I exceptional in quality nor intensity.

I am none of these things.

These things are for others to decide, my specialness or not is irrelevent to me. What is relevent is my ordinariness, for this defines my consciousness, defines it as ordinary and therefore is unworthy of consideration when considering whether I, my "self", arises and is a cause for both my own and other's suffering.

If this "I", if this "self" causes such then it is unworthy and therefore cannot be allowed to become so special as to be above others. Others are far more worthy as cause for such consideration.

How can this "I" be special if it hurts others. This is worthy of consideration and change.

If there is suffering, if there is "self" then there is purpose, yet this purpose cannot be considered worthy or special lest it be considered so as a purpose to eliminate such pain and suffering.

I am not special, I am a failure, I causes suffering, I is intolerable.

I... the very concept is unworthy....

If I cannot provide for others happiness then....I am nothing....

A Buddhist.......

If special means thinking that my species has a God-given right (literally) to dominate the universe and every other living thing in it, the answer is a resounding NO. To me, that is common sense and humility. Every creature that exists has the right to feel just as special from its own perspective and strive to survive to maintain its life. Too many people think that the universe owes them "purpose" in their life. Sez who? No one is any more divinely deserving of meaning or purpose than a possum or a polecat. It's arrogance to think otherwise. We are merely animals who just happen to be much more intelligent, enough to dream up all sorts of vain imaginings.

Greetings Friend,

We are all special, which means we are not really special. Yes, it is true we all seem to have 'special' abilities, but special can never mean one is better than another, or that ones abilities are so special that that one is really special. When we look at it like that, our egos get deflated.

This should not make us feel that the love that God has for each of us is diminished. Rather, it should let us know that God does not have a favorite child - one It (God) loves more than the rest.

Special relationships are the egos design to keep the idea of separation alive. We have special relationships so that the ego can feel like it is someone.

My friend, I do know what you are speaking about, but the cure is not for us to feel like we are special (in an egoic sense) but to know the truth of who we are - we are all God's children.

sending love,

Most all of us had adults telling us not to be big headed and such, after a while, I had no self-esteem to speak of. Today I feel I am special, I am here to share what I believe in, and how that can help others. Repeating it helps me. God has a job for me to do or I would not still be on this earth anymore, hell I don't wanna be here. But more than that, I want to do God's Will.

Blessed Be

No one wants to look at the many distinct details that seperate us and make us unique individuals, rather the whole picture. For example, someone said it's hard to feel unique and special because you are 1 of 6 billion on this earth. Yet remember, no one has the same exact feautres you do, germs, exact skin tone, chemical make up, and thats exactly it, you're 1 of 6 billion indivduals and yet you are not the same as them! Not even twins have the same exact characteristics. So when you examine our details individually, you notice how truley different and unique we are, instead of saying "because we're all humans..we have arms and legs..." all that garbage.

The special persons have no ego.For example, life and death, profit and loss, happy and sorry did not effect on these peopleThey never say that I am a special. As most of us have no such qualities as stated and accordingly cannot believe or difficult to believe or even impossible to believe that they are special. For example,Samrat Guru Ramdas,Guru Nanak, Sant Rabi Das etc can be counted among special persons because they consider no difference between their followers(who loves them) and who are critics(who did work against them).

You get what you pay for, you get what you put into it, and your speciality depends on the qualities and disabilities you possess and the ability to intigrate them to a balanced social and fundemental aspect of life. Also because people are always telling each other they are not. We are all special in our own ways... and the lord created each of us unique but all having common bonds.

Self Esteme was earned today its given... they say you need trial to build character... if the kids of today are not allowed to have trial and given everything they desire... then this is what it leads to very low self esteeme..

They used to cry about bread and food and shelter, today they cry about games, money and their boyfriend..
Roots have disappeared and replaced by materialistic values and lost signifigance makes one's life seem rewardless and effortless... your raised as an individual and your put in the world as a number... I think that has alot to do with it also

If we all believed the truth, the light and the way, we would all finally realize that WE are the Messiah. Buddha taught us the way of His mastery. Jesus told us that we are everything He already is. We simply must be willing to walk the way of the Master (whichever one(s) we choose to follow). We have the unlimited ability to move far beyond mediocrity. That is what makes us all so special. Perhaps it is our fear of being consummately egocentric, being willing to fervently speak those words, "I Am The Messiah," that prevents us from acknowledging this simple truth.

I am not afraid. I am very special. I am the Messiah. Say it with me!
