When we look at history we will see that most of the religions hide the truth.

Like any other word that humans use; the word truth can have more than one definition. Further, words are the stuff of life.
God's word literally conveys life; while the work of any who seek power and control over men goes first to the control of words. As God's word notes; life and death is in the tongue.
The courts and attorneys rule with words. Governments are defined and people are controlled by words. Religions claim that only their words will work or only their words apply and none other. Advertising is a power set by words.
The word truth in court, in science, in religions, in personal use, may have a variety of meanings and even shades of meaning which need to be compared in every instance.
It would be nice if we had a definition of the word truth which everyone would agree upon. It remains that a universal definition of truth is lacking. If facts are truth then truth can actually change from day to day because facts do change!
In Christianity, truth is not a fact but a person know as the Lord Jesus Christ; who even called himself the truth!. In the court room truth means that what you say will match your experience without variation or limitation. Here we find a big difference in the use of the word.
In religion, for most, truth is what you know and what ideas you agree with. If you would or could ban the word 'truth' many will just find another word or way. And, any attempt to control a word is much like burning books; you have set yourself up as a ruler and a dictator by default. Not a really good idea.
From a Christian point of view, and this even discounts many Chrisitians, I would say that truth is not what you know but who you know. Something very different from belief.
Truth for me you see is a man. For the next person it is a perfect idea which mankind cannot agree upon.
Banning words is a form of political force dealing with spin, correctness and even smacks of slavery. I don't think any words should be totally banned but rather submit that the human tongue needs to be personally controlled.

This question pre-supposes that YOU are in a position to judge religious truth and revelation. At what point did you receive appointment as the "all seeing master of time, space, and dimension"? When asked question about truth in here, the VAST majority of non-Christians say that truth is relative...what's true for me may not be true for you. I agree with you that something is either true, or not. However, I believe it to be truth that banning religion is something that's already been tried by a government...remember the former Soviet Union?...and found to be a bad idea.

Apply what you are saying to this scripture;
(John 5:19) Therefore, in answer, Jesus went on to say to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing. For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
1. Jesus is prompted and inspired by his Father.
2. Like any offspring, Jesus learns from watching his Father.
3. And he does them the same.
It shows he is a lesser being than his Father.
This is the TRUTH that the scripture expresses./
What is NOT truth is the claim that Jesus is EQUAL to his Father, and that he IS is his Father. What the Trinity concept claims.
It negates the total Catholic faith. And all those who blindly believe it.

The truth is, the ones who know the truth are being judged by the ones who do not.
Perhaps this is the reason so many big TV evangelists meet with disaster, while certain presidents are pardoned for the same offenses!

Yes, because something is only true if it can be proved. In response to the post above me, I am an atheist but don't think that religion should be banned. There needs to be a belief that there is a greater power above humans or else a government can be all-powerful. Just look at communism.

The meaning of Truth is relevant only to the individual.
In time one may learn (if they so wish)to discern the Truth from the torrent of lies masquerading as Truth. That is the real Path.
As each moment passess we change and therefore our perceptions of Truth are bound to change. It is called evolution.

Should people have sex before they know how to do it properly?
Should people ask questions on Yahoo answers until they know how to do it properly?
Should people answer those questions until they know how to do it properly.
Your arrogance is there for all to see.....you are as human as everyone else and as such you are prone to make mistakes. I am a 'born again' Christian and try hard to live the life the Lord wishes me to live but it is so hard. I have lied unintentionally and even lied deliberately..telling myself it is the right thing to do in the circumstances whilst trying to be kind to someone else....
You are no different so please reconsider the wording of your question. Who do you think you are to judge anyone?
Best wishes, Mike.

Religion is based upon FEAR, not TRUTH!
e.g. Roman Catholics claim that there is NO salvation outside of their Church...
However, the Church, or temple, their Jesus was referring to was his BODY, not a building or organisation...
If the RC leaders told their people the TRUTH, that everybody is their own Church (HOLY GRAIL), they would find it more difficult to reap in their GOD (Money) from their flockers (Congregation).

Its what they believe to be the truth, but we all know they can not all be right. As long as they are not trying to convert us I say let them be. So no it should not be banned.
