Recently did the cruise. The boats are amazing. swimming pools and bars. good food. sorry to the rest of you but I used the ice and ate the salads and never had a problem. My room had a nice view of the land and sights going by and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Ask specifically where you are to join the Boat. Due to seasonal influences I had a long taxi drive to reach the boat. After the train it was not what I had been promised. They also tried to switch boats on me at the last minute. Get it in writing and ask for specifics. Otherwise a great trip. Egypt is amazing.

right, don't take ice, don't hold your hands into the Nile (and not only because of the crocodiles!), be careful with fruits - if you can't strip off yourself, leave it alone.

what you should do, is take onions or fresh lemons with your food, keeps you well (quite like a natural anti-bioticum).
jabs is a good hint, Hepatitis wouldn't be too bad, either.

else?
sun-protection.
drink much.
enjoy the Valleys of the Kings, Queens and Artists, if you can. also the Tempel of Hatshepsut, and Abu Simbel. the Botanical Garden on that island (forget its name, sorry) is great. not to forget Karnak, and Luxor Temple...
snorkling or diving in the Red Sea is great.

nice people around there, all natural born sales-men - be careful what they offer you. 95 % is crap - if you pay about a third to a quarter of their first demand, then you get close to a good price.

I love Egypt!

Do not take ice with your drinks or fresh salad (usually washed in the Nile). Drink water bought in a SEALED bottle. Usually cooked food is safe.

Basically what John & Srracvuee have both said, DO NOT eat or drink anything unless it's properly sealed, especially water.
Also make sure you have the relevant jabs before you go. ie : Typhoid, Polio, Tetanus, Diphteria and Hepatitis A, etc.

Good luck and have fun!!
