example-- we are encouraged to eat 'heathly' foods all the time, but if you have a large family and on a low income it is virtually impossible!!! i.e 1 loaf of white bread 28p against 1 loaf of brown bread 89p. I really cant see why its all sooo expensive.

There are two reasons. First, the stores know that parents want their kids to eat healthy foods because it is good for them. So they will buy it even if it is expensive. Second, the store also knows that kids love unhealthy food so they make the price cheaper so more kids can buy the unhealthy food since it is cheap. The more kids that buy it the more money the store makes.

I guess healthy food is much more expensive since it works on our body naturally and it doesn't make us feel sick.... we can get much more energy and is quite needed to our body since more of us especially men needed much more energy than women... they do heavy works (men)... as for the unhealthy food is inexpensive since we call it as "junks" coz it causes more sickness or trouble in our lives... Its worse when you take this almost everyday without noticing that your killing yourself up.... You can have distinctive in bread since some of breads is made in much more commercialize having expensive raw materials than before so its expensive naturally... everything now is expensive not only in food but i guess all the luxuries in life...

Its because you pay for it at their demand price...
Not all healthy food needs to cost to much. At the end it all boils down to how well you pick the right food for you. Of course organic food cost to much because they say it has to, but the reality is that it cost much because their is not much supplier willing to say that they are organic.
You know what, do your self a favor and just grow and cook it by your self.

Sandra... that's great you've ask that question. Healthy foods are actually cheap....they are found everywhere... Its just so happened that we dont realize the benefits they bring. I usually refrain from eating commercially processed foods. They are expensive and yet they are not as healthy as the vegetables ....fruits,... and other edible plants that we get from our surroundings!!!

Think of it this way, you spend less for unhealthy food now and you will have to spend a whole lot more on medications and doctor's visits later and possibly for the rest of your life.

Well in the case of Organic foods, its that it takes longer to grow the organic fruits and veggies than it takes when you use chemically treated fertilizers and pesticides.

And while we're at it, why does bottled water now cost more than canned soda? And why does bottled water have any ingredients in it other than water (check for yourself)? Is it REALLY better for me than tap water, or does it just TASTE better?

Evian spelled backwards is naive. I CAN'T be the only one who has noticed THAT.

Don't mind me. I'm totally trolling right now.

Quality gal. You're paying for quality. :)
Good quality "healthy" products (eg. olive oil, organic anything) cost more than low quality "unhealthy" products (eg. palm oil).
