The main mean should be the one the family can share. There is nothing wrong with a hot meal at lunch and dinner. You can have a hot meal without eating like a pig. A sandwich is generally not considered dinner.

You could follow an old adage....eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. It has nothing to do with a hot or cold meal but rather that you are more active throughout the day and can burn off the calories than you are following dinner. So have a hot or cold dinner....just less of it.

Dinner if your working during the day. There isn't time at a lunch break for a complete meal. If your lucky enough not to have to work then the main meal can be lunch time and you'll have more time to burn off all those calories.

The main meal of the day should be the meal at which all of the loved ones are present. It used to be that men worked nearby and came home at lunch, that isn't often the case now. Generally the main meal is now the evening meal, whatever time that might be.

I think dinner should be the main meal of the day but not eaten too late. Because breakfast should be a complete meal and not to be skipped as it gives you the energy to start off the day with then lunch can be a lighter meal if breakfast was eaten properly.

Usually, our hot main meal is dinner but it should be the lunch because we still have few hours to burn the food, whereas few hours left when we do it during dinner time. Medically speaking, it is not ideal to eat heavy meal when we are about to go to bed.

As a person gets older, they eat less..........so my lunch is light, so is my dinner. I can have sandwiches for dinner with half a bowl of soup, some greens and some fruit.

It just depends on the person. If you can have dinner before 6:00 p.m. that is good. Supposedly your food doesn't digest very well after this time.
