If with parents or close friends or relatives, I might laugh with them. They don't want to make a fun of me, so it is fine. But otherwise I do not think I would laugh with him, because there is nothing funny about laughing at yourself. I will just stay calm and try to ignore the whole thing.

How do you know that they are laughing at your stupidity?
Why are you making that assumption?
Are you maybe being too sensitive?

If I said something stupid and someone laughs, I usually will laugh right along with them. I don't care. It's not the end of the world. We are all guilty from time to time of saying something stupid or doing something stupid. It means nothing. I would only be worried/concerned if it started happening all of the time. I'm not worried if it's once in a while. I figure then I am human. If I laugh at someone else, I am trying to make them lighten up. I love to laugh. It's good for the heart and your soul. Life is not worth taking so seriously that you can't relax. You don't think smarter by being more uptight. You think better when you are relaxed. I've found that to be true myself. I am dyslexic. I usually say something stupid from time to time. Sometimes I do it on purpose to make a point or just see if someone is listening.

I usually get as much enjoyment from it as others seem to. I walked into an open elevator shaft ( I was in a hurry) with a whole crowd of people standing around blocking the barricade so I couldn't see it. Fortunately, I was on the ground floor and only fell about four feet and I crawled out of it with grease all over me. Once the crowd saw I was unhurt, they all cheered. I've never turned that red before, but I had a good laugh about it later. I'm sure the crowd did as well.

Oh, I most definitely stay calm and smile back, as any good schemer/plotter would do! From that moment on I am working out a way to exact my revenge upon them. Some ways to get revenge? When out at a party and they go to the bathroom, relieve yourself in their drink. If it is nice weather when windows will be open, have some expired milk sitting behind the fridge, aging and waiting for an offender, then you pour the nasty stuff through one of their open windows--works especially well if you wait until they have important company over (I also had a lot of fish tails sitting in a ziplock bag behind the fridge that really added to the aroma)--whatever you do, do NOT get any of it on you, and breath through your mouth only. Good luck--go get 'em!!

Laugh too. I play it off. If you don't, they're going to think you're even more stupid than they thought you were after you did whatever stupid thing. Some people are dumb and they try to get loud and make you feel even dumber than just pointing something out. In those cases, I usually remind them that people are from different backgrounds and even two neighbors can be exposed to two completely different lifestyles, so maybe something I did/said/asked wasn't necessarily stupid, maybe it was just a lack of exposure to a certain topic. But in normal cases, play it off. just say something like "ohhhh yeahhh. I knew that. what was I thinking?!" lol

I look at the motive and the situation. If is really funny situation, I might laugh with them. If it was minor stupidity and the individual laughing is not one to use me for his/her source of joke, I would just smile and say, "I'm not at my best today."

If the person laughing does it often, I would consider it a form of snipping and call them on it and say, "That may not have been the smartest thing a person could do, but I do not think it is funny." (Such people are mean and love to make jokes at the expense of others. The only way to stop such people is to confront them. )

It is inherent in the question that you had acted as a stupid - so the best thing to do is have an open and hearty laugh - at your own self

I think the person who is laughing and the situation we were in makes a big difference on my reaction. In general; I don't mind laughing at myself, so I'd most likely join them.

LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH! I get it a lot because I'm a very DITZY person and I like it that way!! Even if they're trying to knock you down to be mean......laugh! It may hurt, but laughing it off will let them know that they didn't get to you. It's just like that old saying "If you laugh with them, they can't laugh at you!"

My friends laugh at my stupidity all the time. Usually I don't think it's funny so I pretend to laugh and pretend it's cool or I ignore thier laughter. I never lost my cool though...
