Because god (or God) is metaphysical, it cannot be answered in physical manner.

===== DETAILS ====

People often try to answer everything using science (physical) to answer question that isn't science in nature. To properly answer this question, you have to define "god" in terms of which religion first and go look up their answer - after all it is their story.

If you ask about God (proper noun / name for Christian God) is said to be "from everlasting to everlasting" - in another words, not made but was always in existence.

If you ask about Budda god, then it was born from a lotus flower (or something like that).

Of course you can create your own answer using your own imagination, but then you can't argue your imagination of "god" is in anyway more correct than anybody else's answer.

When people say "I think god is..." but in reality what they mean is "If I was god..." but that's saying a lot and assuming a lot. Most people can't even say "If I was a president ... " without looking egotistical.
