Well at least you have shown that there are some good drivers out there.

We live in a society that seems to think that if we nearly hit someone, it's their fault and carry on.

As you said, you were driving correctly and you were not in anyway to blame for the near miss, but still you feel guilt, anger, frustration!!!

Only time and patience can get you through your experience and I wish you many years of continued safe driving.

Lets hope others can learn a lesson from your near miss. Thanks for sharing.

Chikdren that young should not be near the road for one thing. I know that scared you to death. It would me too. No one wants to run any thing over in the car. It wasn't your fault-tconvince yourself of that. The mother didn't keep her child safe or keep the child retrained so it wouldn't run into traffic. Don't be afraid to get back in your car. Just thank the Lord he was looking out for that child and you as well. He kept you both safe. You are going through the emotions as if you had hit the child. You will get over that. Your body will calm down, it might take a day or two. Just calm down and try not to think about the incident.

I know the feeling, except for me it was a drunk. My son had just turned into the high street, about to go past the pub, when a drunk lunged at the car and slammed his hands down on the rear screen. My son was driving at the time so I was able to look around to see what was happening, he had blood on his face and hands and just starred at me through the glass, sent shivers down my spine. Another time, and at the same location oddly enough, another drunk just collapsed into the road in front of me, unconscious, I missed him by about a foot. I relived those scenes over and over and over for about a week, then gradually the images started to fade. I still think about it, but I don't get the same knot in my stomach. I can only recommend, that every time the images come into your head, really think hard of something else, do something physical and demanding to take your mind off it. It will take time I'm afraid. Good luck

Thankfully, it was only a near miss. You have them down to experience and learn what you can from it, but hitting someone, especially a child is a drivers worst nightmare.

Maybe some good has come from it though. Maybe it shocked the mother and child too. They'll be a little more careful next time.

You had done what any other driver would do. It's the mother' fault for restraining her child by handing her hand or using kiddie walking reins. Since you are concerned from the effects of shock, get hold of your doctor, either over the phone or face to face. You may need to take something like"Kalms". But get GP's advice! You should be praising your driving skills in the fact that there were no casualties!

A 15 year old cat? Recovery is going to long and hard on you both. The vet I imagine will try and wire the jaw in order to stabilize it, if it is broken and can be repaired. Your cat will probably need to be on a strict soft food/gruel/liquid diet until all healed. I also imagine the vet will put your cat on pain medication and antibiotics. FINISH all meds as instructed and do NOT stop just because you think your cat is better. FOLLOW all vet instructions and hopefully your cat will make a full recovery. Good luck and sorry

Look, it happens, try to put it down to experience and move on. The thing to remember is you avoided the situations and your reactions saved you. This happened to me once, I was driving along and a girl of about 10 stepped into the middle of the road without looking and she was texting! I'd seen her out of the corner of my eye before and gave her a short sharp shock with my horn, pedestrians think they can do what they like and it's upto drivers to ensure their safety. Grrr............

You will just have to calm down naturally over time. Might take a couple of days but you will feel better eventually.
