about 12 years ago, at a rehearsal dinner, we had a 5L bottle of 1949 chateau lafitte rothschild, actually, the first bottle the wine steward opened, was bad, the second one was very nice. the price was 25,000.00. the dinner was filet & lobstertail.

I ama former chef and have cooked with $100 bottles of wine, but the best drink I have ever had was one of my employers had a rare bottle of vintage port "Dows 1928", he bought it an auction for $800.

I was like a kiss from an angel, heavenly, sweet but not to sweet, hints of grape, must and the smallest aftertaste, I had 2 small glasses and felt honoured to have even been it its presence. I feel unless you appreciate wine and know its complexitys a $10,000 bottle tastes like a $3.50.

Not to put the knock on the other respondants, I spent 3 years in the French Trade Unions (Sopexa) wine club in Toronto Canada, at each tasting we had 12-15 wines and tried wines from all regions, it just got to pricey for me. plus I went to work in Jamaica, quite the commute.

It's ironic that we'll pay thousands for a sip of wine when that money could've rehydrated half of Sudan...

JK! I'm not trying to be a party-pooper.

The most expensive wine I've had is Cabernet Sauvignon, in a box. I think it was $12.99. I had spaghetti with it I think. I'm not an aristocrat so I don't know what expensive wine or caviar taste like.

Unless you are a wine expert a good quality wine at a reasonable price will be perfect. If you are not an expert then it is a waste of money buying a classic wine.
