He jokes about his Italian grandmother on Iron Chef America all the time. Maybe that's a decent clue.

Maurice Alberto Rocca (born January 28, 1969) is the son of late Marcel X. "Jack" Rocca and Maria Luisa Villar Borda. Harvard-educated, Jack Rocca owned a Washington, D. C.- based language school and translation service. Under Mo Rocca's Wikipedia entry, he is classified as an Italian-American.

Wikepedia states his full name is Maurice Alberto Rocca. FamiySearch shows quite a few Rocca from Italy. Some from Louisiana.

Ancestry.Com shows 130 Rocca immigrants from Italy, 13 from Germany,
11 from Switzerland(Switzerland is divided between German, Italian and French speaking areas), 7 from France, 2 from Naples, Italy, 2 from Sardinia.

Chances are his paternal ancesty, at least, is Italian.
