i think it is a gud idea and i don't think security will mind. korea is also a gaming community. having a laptop will help in communicating with the younger generation. make sure u also bring one of those softwares that help you translate

Sure.
In fact, I just came to Korea a few weeks ago myself, carrying my laptop. Just bring it as a carry-on, safely stock it on the shelf above your head on the plane. All the security people ask you to do at the airport was to take out the laptop out of the laptop bag and put it through the x-ray scanner. No biggie.

OH

But if you are bringing your laptop, you should know that Korea uses a 220 volt electriity system, so you might have to buy an adaptor in Korea or before you come. Other than that, works absolutely fine here.

I brought a new laptop and they don't really ask any questions. I went there last month. They didn't even ask about it even when they did a security check on bags. Get the little adaptor also as well. The korean plugs are different than the US.

Absolutely, as a matter of fact I suggest you do so. If you try to use a korean laptop with Korean OS you will have difficulties.
There will be no problem with customs or security. I would travel to and from Seoul and LA several times in a year. Never had any problems.

Take your computer as a carry on. You really shouldn`t have any problems in customs. Just keep in mind that the voltage is different than the U.S. If you have a fairly new laptop, it should be able to handle the difference 100/55htz with the approriate adapter.

If you are going to be spending a lot of time in one location I would say go for it. but just to be the squeaky wheel. I would never bring my Laptop with me on Holiday again. Hey, You have to lug it around and worry about somebody ripping you off. and... there are Internet shops everywhere now with really low prices. Use them. It saves a lot of hassle and gives you some piece of mind. Hate to have that brick go missing. But.. no problems with customs. anywhere!

I dont see the problem... I see laptops on airplanes all the time. Go for it. The worst thing the could say is it must be checked into the luggage in the belly of the plane.

as long as it doesn't look super new and smell fresh...you won't be charged on custom tax....

and most likely they wont care...jsut say it's for work...
would be handy to keep your receipt with you~~
(if they really do pick on you and want u to pay for tax.....ask local ppl to get quote on the model...I am sure Korea is much cheaper than where you bought it.)
