AVG is the only free antivirus you should consider. It's on millions of machines and computer professionals all over the world use it. It comes on the disks you get with computer mags, but the best place to download is http://www.download.com. Enter AVG in the search box on that site. The program is easy to install and it updates its data files almost daily. It's a very professional program and if you decide to get a few more features like firewall and spyware, you can purchase the next stage up. Don't look for the free AVG at the Grisoft site, because it's very hard to find. They would prefer you download a 30 day free trial of the more powerful program.

Theres a couple decent free antivirus programs out there.
Do a search for either AVG free edition or Avast! Antivirus.

Beware though, i said they are decent and free of spyware/malware and are good FREE utilities, but you get what you pay for.
