im a catholic kid (fourtheen years old), and im just confused as to why people have a poblem with catholocism.

Some people are anti-Catholic because they were raised to be that way, or have been given erroneous information about what Catholicism actually is. There are many people, for instance, who believe the anti-Catholic lies printed in the tracts and comics of Jack Chick. There are people who go around claimimg that Catholics aren't Christians. Although the Reformation and Counter-Reformation happened centuries ago, there is still bad blood lingering from those historical events, as well. I have heard the Church referred to many times as "The Great Whore of Babylon" and worse. As a Catholic, unfortunately, you'll probably get used to hearing all kinds of strange accusations and conspiracy theories.

i'm sorry- you guys do seem to cop a lot of persecution, but the catholic church persecuted a lot of ppl in its time too. (still not fair tho, huh?) i have a problem with catholocism because it all seems so pompous and empty of any depth or meaning (the services are so repetitive & the hymns don't mean anything at all) to me. I'm mormon, so i cop A LOT of flak for my beliefs, but to me, my church, the true gospel of Christ is so FULL and full of joy and promise and love. Catholocism seems to promote guilt more than anything, also there's an awful lot of graven images & idols which clashes with the 10 commandments in my eyes (also why some ppl pray to Mary is a mystery to me! we're supposed to pray to God!). buy hey- these are my opinions only. If you are happy with ur faith- Good for you! May God bless you for it

i find the god of the Abrahamic religions to be well evil and the history of his followers is not helping, there are some denominations that seem to do more good then harm but they are by definition the least Orthodox the Catholic Church's present stance on gay marriage is enough to put them below that cut off

Because the Catholic Chuch has invented many beliefs and practices that were not in the Bible. (Examples: Praying to Mary and the saints, Pope as God on earth, Baptism by sprinkling not immersion, Bishops can't be married, etc.) Then the Pope comes out and tells all the rest of us who follow what the Bible teaches, without adding to it, that we're going to hell. I'm not an expert on relationship building techniques, but I would venture to say, that's not a very good one.

Because the church, from its beginnings, has set itself up as a government unto itself. It presumes to dictate its policies to the citizens of sovereign nations, often to the detriment of that nation.
The catholic church has created or amplified more human suffering than any other institution that has existed, while enriching itself and its leadership.

Because it sometimes seem as though catholics look to the Pope for guidance instead of God. It also seems as though the catholic religion changes what it believes often.

Because Catholics, as well as a number of other religions, tend to think they, and they alone have a monopoly on "the truth", and that is such a TIRED and pathetic response to the complexities of modern life, and unless one nods dutifully like a sheep, then ....case closed.......you are going to hell. end of story no ands, ifs or buts. Thats why.

I read, study, and obey the HOLY BIBLE and I believe it to be our FATHER'S WORD. If you do the same then you will probably question what you have seen in the Catholic Church too. I am not throwing rocks but attempting to answer your question. Have a wonderful weekend.
