Phileo - means to have an affection for. This is a love that comes from feelings of fondness...sometimes called "brotherly love".

Agape - is a love that puts the other people first...this is a love based not on feelings but on thoughts. We must choose to show agape love by actively thinking about how we treat other people. Agape love is illustrated by God's love for us as expressed in John 3:16!

Early Christians used it to mean the love that God had for humanity. It has also been used to mean divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing, active, volitional, and thoughtful love. Greek philosophers used forms of the word to denote love of a spouse or family, or affection for a particular activity, in contrast to philia—an affection that could denote either brotherhood or generally non-sexual affection, and eros, an affection of a sexual nature, usually between two unequal partners.

It's God's unconditional love for mankind, and it's the love that people try to mimic as best as possible, also as general love for others.

Unconditional Love. The highest form of love.

Only NDEers and the like, have felt it to the max. It isn't possible to give it, or feel it fully in this world.
