Whatever one's religion may be, one should cultivate respect for other faiths. One who does not have such an attitude of tolerance and respect for other religions is not a true follower of his own religion. It is not enough merely to adhere strictly to the practices of one's own religion, one should also try to see the essential unity of all religions. Only then will man be able to experience the oneness of Divinity. Once the Truth of the Indwelling Spirit is recognised, there dawns the awareness that the whole world is one family. One is then filled with Divine Love which becomes the driving force for all of one's actions.

Vitamin C: It is not my religion, but thank you anyway for the assumption. If you notice I asked if you could agree that it was a truth? It is a quote from a Spiritual Guru in India, and I happened to find it interesting, and wanted to hear other peoples opinions of it. It is not something I preach nor do I pretend to have all the answers.

Well Buttercup,
As Shakespear once said
The whole worlds a stage and the men and women mearly players.
since then one of the many roads of human endeavor has been too prove him wrong.
Fundamentally regardless of anything else we are all human beings with or without as much beauty, intelligence, prowess, cunning, common sence...
No matter the stage set or the colour of the costumes - the games the people always play revolve around love and money.
All religions even atheists believe in one thing;
Treat others as you would wish to be treated.
Personally I include
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and
take no more from life then you give it.
estimated is upset that people dont agree
coffee pots satire is not exactly forward thinking
girl wonder and nobody are but cute lambs
God gives us his penetrating ultimatum
and Poohcat gives us the answer...
If man was once capable of inventing a religion that got human beings this far is it about time we started believing in ourselves to
BE LIFE

I agree totally. Up until ,
"Only then will man be able to experience the oneness of Divinity. Once the Truth of the Indwelling Spirit is recognised, there dawns the awareness that the whole world is one family. One is then filled with Divine Love which becomes the driving force for all of one's actions. "
Don't get me wrong, I beleive that someone/something had to have 'put' us here... we came from somewhere. But I'm not completely convinced where that is yet. I was raised babtist, married a catholic, but consider my self more gnostic or wiccan than any other religion I've learned about so far.
I think that everyone should respect one another's beleif systems. You want respect, then show some.
Most people would be suprised at how similar religions truly are. I think that if everyone took the time to learn a little about others' faiths, then there wouldn't be such hatrid amongst religions.

I noticed that there were a lot of "shoulds" in your question. You're not trying to should on us are you? Truth can not be put in a box and expected to stay there for long. The "truth" of Indwelling Spirit is a perspective; a potential reality that is not chosen by all in this plane.
Are you aware that your question calling for tolerance of all faiths smacks mightily of intolerance against those who choose not to tolerate other faiths. In that light, your "truth" is no more tolerant than the spiritual paths you are trying to dismiss as "untrue" because of intolerance. Does that mean, then, that YOU are not a true follower of your religion?
Intolerance of intolerance is............intolerance!

Have you ever watch a TV show called fantasy Island? Well that oneness you are talking about is a fantasy. Matthew 25:32 he shall separate all nations; as in separating sheep from the goat. In this world we have sheep and we have goats, therefore there are also goat religions, and the sheep which belong to Christ. So if Jesus Say's there is going to be a separation. There is no need for a oneness unity, you are either a sheep, or a goat.

Please define your terms such as respect for and tolerence of as these terms have taken on new meanings in recent years. And while you may be using other words we are familiar with kindly also define what you mean by indwelling spirit ,oneness of divinity and divine love as they may sound similar but how can I be assured we are not using the same words but with very different meanings and therefore how can I know if I agree with you if I can not be assured we are speaking of the same thing.

Very poetic. But I disagree. I think if we all cultivate love for the Divine, and seek to follow His ways instead of scrutinizing each other, I think if we all put Him in the center of life and move towards that, we will automatically be drawn closer to each other, away from the perimeter of the circle and towards the center. Closer.

While I agree with your premise, I would remind you that "truth" is subjective and relative to each person and each belief system. As I understand the some Muslim faiths, if you don't believe as they do, you are classified and "infidel" and ar therefoe unworthy of living. (I say some, not all, as I am still doing research on it and merely repeating what I'd read once). Many other religions believe the same thing, but without the 'unworthy of life' bit.

That'd be true if it were necessary to have a religion or if everyone had one. Also I will not tolerate the intolerant and no religion is automatically deserving of respect.

Can't agree that its a truth. If someone truly believes in their religion, they probably believe its the only path. They should explore other paths to make sure they are right, but its unreasonable to ask someone who is religiously devoted to not want to share their beliefs or be deeply commited to them.

Cultivate is works. Jesus Christ got rid of the works but He did respect man's relationship with God and divine things, He even told the Pharisees that they were of their father the devil!!!
