So are you asking a question or preaching?
Sex outside of the marriage relationship is morally wrong and you'll find that all throughout the Bible, including the New Testament. Whether it's called "fornication" or something else, it's not approved of by God.
You can get technical and say that "marriage" isn't really defined by the Bible and you'd be right. I can't make the case that there's a specific marriage ceremony or procedure one has to go through in order to get permission to have sex. I think the Bible allows our culture to make that determination.
Some argue that once you're in a sexual relationship you ARE married, whether you've been through the ceremony or not. That's fine with me, but I'd expect you to uphold the same vows -- that is, you're obligated to a monogamous life-long relationship.
I think you're too hung up on that one word. Keep reading the Bible and you'll see that sex outside of marriage is definitely not on the to-do list.

I know what you are saying and I have found similar facts in my own research. Sex before marriage causes problems. It may feel great. But there is a lot of emotional pain when a relationship ends that is made worse if you have known each other in such an intimate way. Unwanted pregnancies can also happen making life difficult for everyone involved. Once you're married, if you are truly in love, you will find that there is a special intimate bond that you will wish you would have never shared with anyone else. For these earthly reasons, I believe that even though our definition may be off, God did not intend us to sleep around.

Fornication is sex outside of marriage- sorry to tell ya- with this question, and comment I can tell you are "sounding" like you really do a lot of research- but I really think you are trying to to justify sex before marriage- in your own mind and heart. Could I possibly be right. As you say "Fornication" is sexually immoral acts- and it is immoral according to the word of God to have sex before marriage. Yes, fornication is any immoral act of sexuality- including prostitution , but that does not negate the fact that God created sex for marriage only= sorry your justification does not work,

The interpretation you find in the dictionary is based on historical research and the researced customs of the day in which the Bible was written. Having sex with someone prior to marriage was considered wrong because of the social customs of the day which were based on what is good for society as a whole. A man was never required to marry a prostitute because he did not defile her...as she was already defiled. However, he would be required to marry a woman who had not been defiled before he had sex with her.

Good to see you doing such research, but your premise is fatally flawed.
"fornication" is the translation of a word from an earlier text. If you want to find out anything of value, find out what the origenal text said and study the meaning of that word. As it is all you are doing is seeing that most translators took it to mean "fornication" and what that word means in english.

people have all kinds of weird ideas. There was this one monk that helped arrange a tryst between a maid and a knight, simply because the woman wanted a baby from him (the knight). This raised my eyebrows. People back in the day were merciful toward young lovers, so long as they were promised to each other, or co-operated with bringing new life into the world.
However, that being said, Joseph DID want to divorce Mary when he found out that she was with child (and to do it quietly so as to be discreet). There was no TV. People entertained each other. I suppose you could ask a match-maker what the rules were and what people did in certain situations. So long as you were betrothed, that was as good as marriage. But most tried to wait until their wedding night.

I'm not sure! I think I'll check!
By the way, you might appreciate this: Look into Aramaic idioms in the Bible. Much of what is translated in the West totally ignores how certain phrases are used in the culture they were used in were meant.
For example, send this post to Japan and translate it, watching how the Japanese shake their heads and look at the sky, thinking how it is either a miracle, or those Americans are sure silly when they say, "It rained cats and dogs".
Well done, by the way.

In my opinion and research, fornication reverts back as far back in the bible as sodom and gomrrah. But the laws of moses, known as the 10 commandments, say to honor God, and then the rest. The blood of Christ covers all of our legalistic sins, but it says to repent and turn away from your sins. So if in doubt and it can and does go against the first Law and you do not repent and change your ways it is a sin.

It says in the bible , that if you cannot contain yourself ,that it is
better to marry than to burn and it says that fornicators will not see the Kingdom of God.
Fornication is , whatever the dictionary tells you and that's that !!!
You are not getting away with your self-made rules here, don't be deceived !!!
