There is no biblical basis for the idea of a celibate clergy. In fact, the idea is relatively new. For many centuries Catholic priests married and lived with their families as normal men. Celibacy in the clergy is responsible for those who are forbidden to love women, as is normal, turning to the crime of child molestation for sexual gratification.

Back a few hundred years ago many of the Holy Roman Catholic Church's clergy were marrying and leaving their property to their descendants when they died.
Like many organisations, including religious, the HRCC is primarily about Power and Money so they added the Celibacy clause to the contract.
Over the years the meaning of Celibacy came to equate that of Chastity when in fact all it ever meant was 'remaining unmarried'.
"formed in Eng. from L. cælibatus "state of being unmarried," from cælebs "unmarried," from PIE base *kaiwelo- "alone" + lib(h)s- "living." Celibate first recorded 1829."

Deacons are often married clergy.
In Orthodox churches including some in unity with the Pope many of the priest, though none of the bishops, are married.
This is a... tradition of the church. The Priest is to be "as the person of Christ." Thus male and celibate. And the nuns, likewise celibate. More ideal right?

Jesus was celibate, as was Paul. Priests and nuns pledge their lives to God. Just as Paul did. Many different religions also have celibate people, such as Buddhist Monks

St. Paul speaks clearly of priestly celibacy here.
1Co 7:1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.
1Co 7:2 Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
1Co 7:3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
1Co 7:4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
1Co 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
1Co 7:6 But I speak this by permission, [and] not of commandment.
1Co 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
1Co 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.
1Co 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
Men who fully and truly dedicate themselves to doing God's work have no time for (literally) screwing around.

It's just a Catholic thing I guess. If he would rather be a priest than be with you, then in the long run, you are better off without him. Plus if you're LDS, wouldn't it be important to you to marry someone with the same beliefs as you?

Some people feel called to devote themselves entirely to the Lord.
"For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it." -- Matthew 19:12
"The unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord; but the married man is anxious about worldly affairs, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. And the unmarried woman or girl is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit; but the married woman is anxious about worldly affairs, how to please her husband. I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord." -- 1 Corinthians 7:32-35

You're confusing biblical Christianity with Catholicism.
The Bible specifically says that marriage is a good thing and we all should do it. It's Catholicism that promotes celibacy and all manner of other perversions of the truth.
