Eat butterbeans and cornbread. Wait 4 hours. Go into the company of your significant other. When you sense a gurgling sensation in your colon, tense your stomach muscles while relaxing your sphincter. Repeat step 4.

Good question. I've actually known relationships to break up because of this.

It can be abusive if someone isn't considerate.

Men seem to have more gas than women from my perspective, but each person needs to treat the other with respect.
We keep a lot of boxes of matches around for if we need them.
In the summer, we have the ceiling fan on so it disperses any odors pretty quickly.
On a plane, you're pretty much trapped there and when they tell you to buckle -up, God help you if you have a bad case of the 'Wind'. I carry one of those little battery powered fans in my backpack to be considerate in those cases.
I also try not to eat beans if I know we are gonna be in cramped quarters in the near future.

There is a respectful way to go about this.

If I'm having a really bad problem with gas/cramping/odor, then I've actually slept in the other room that night.

In the car, the guilty party just rolls down the window for a bit until the smell is gone.

Yes, of course. If i wanted to fart i'll do it without thinking that "i might loose my composure" or "he will definitely get turn-off with me"..stuff like that. That's not so disgusting at all. You're significant other is the person (aside from your family) who is so much close to you, he/she have seen you in an awkward situationS and still loves you so farting in front of him is not a big deal at all. And actually, my ex used to laugh whenever i'm doing that and he'll say "there you go again! a soft girl farting out loud!".

Ha ha. I try not to, but sometimes they just slip on out. I am not embarassed any more, a little sheepish but not embarassed. When we were first together it was another story! I used to get belly ache from holding them in. Especially since we used to go out a bit and I would drink beer which always gives me wind.
He farts like a trooper and the lounder the better. he gets some kind of insane joy out of shocking me with his farts. I think if you can be comfortable farting together, it is a sign you are truely comfortable together.Having said that I do try not to fart if I can help it.

To be quite honest, after being together 2 years, I have let it slip before. But I usually try to keep it quiet, or go into another room. I don't really know why now that I think about it. Because he sure as hell isn't shy about it! lol!!! Oh well, just trying to be lady like I guess. But I don't sweat too much about it if he does notice. We usually just laugh it off. Or he will tell me that I am gross and to go check my pants, haha. OMG Eww. lol.

yes I do. My boyfriend used to think it's cute, now he just chuckles. I don't do it on purpose, but after 6 years together, if one slips out I don't feel embarrassed. Friends or family...that's a different story.

I did in the past. So I don't eat the gas producing food anymore like beans, potatoes, etc. Passing gas is involuntary, so eat wisely.
