The world is inherently evil because of man's inhumanity to man. There have been periods of ethnic cleansing, which as an extreme example, that has not ended with the holocaust or even from the 1970's with Kampuchia, or even with the situation in Serbia/Hertzogovena in the last decade. Man uses organized religion to justify these actions in the name of God. How can both sides invoke God to destroy their enemies when it's not God who has created the circumstances of war or man's inhumanity against another? Man has manipulated the truth of God's love and warped it into their own messages and excuses to show hatred and intolerance to anyone who is of a different culture or religion. Man has ignored the true will of God. That is why conditions in the world are worse than before, weapons are greater, and the world's environment is being ruined and abused on a daily basis.

"The world is the Lord's and everything in it" I believe is how the Psalm starts. According to the Bible, all things (including the earth) were created by God. When mankind was created, He gave us free will so that WE could decide whether to worship Him or not. Some did, some did not. Today some do and some do not. I would hope that you do, but if you don't, well, that's okay too because my salvation is not linked to yours.
Satan was an angel who had it all and threw it away because he wasn't happy worshiping God. Well, he still IS an angel, only a fallen one.
This is a Christian perspective on your question, but I'm sure there are many others. You can agree with it or not, but it is still valid.

Yes. Evil doesn't come from God. Satan, at the hands of humans have created a world of sin.

There is a natural balance of everything in the universe. Evil exists and is balanced out by good. There is no God or Satan. These are characters created by humans.

The World is not evil. Neither is the evil the doing of God. People are given free will, those that choose an evil path do so of their own free will.
We can only control our own actions. Each one of us follows our own path. It is our decision whether to give in to those that would wreak havoc, or to follow the path to oneness with God.
Satan uses people as instruments for his evil work, as God uses us for his good work. Again, these are our choices, the responsibility falls within each of us.
