Train hard, attend class regularly and often, and learn all that you can. During that time as you work out and wrestle with others in the class you can start to evaluate how it is going. You will have an even better idea if you work out with some of those other students that have already competed. Also let your instructor know that you are interested in competing and he will probably help facilitate this. In a tournament you are grouped by level of experience or belt levels and should compete against others that are close to the same level as you. I would think that your instructor will give you feed back as to when that may be and help you make that decision.

Since you didn't say where you are from, it is hard to suggest any specific shows.

I am assuming that your gym doesn't have any active fighters or an active fight team? The easiest way to get lined up is always through your school.

Even if they can't help you directly, ask about people who know fighters in the area. Find someone who can put you in touch with local shows. In most communities the MMA/BJJ communities are a fairly tight knit groups and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Barring that, hit the internet. Many websites that promote fights have a fighter application online. Even if they don't, they will have some kind of contact information. That is how I found my first fight.

Good luck.

It depends on how fit you are. If you want to compete than train 3 or 4 times a week.

I just started going back to TKD, and i really want to test for my yellow belt. But I have to wait. And I am a beginner white belt.
So I don't blame you for wanting to compete.

Stay healthy. D rink a lot of water.

Go fight brother!
Fight as many people in as many places as you can if you want to grow.

Depends how skillful you are. My brother was in it for a month and because he was so skillful at it, he had won the local tournament.
