Why not dear, it can just happen but its all up to you that do you get it just like that he wants you to make understand(Feelings).Not all boys are emotion less but thr is a problem with them that they do not express it as much as girl.
And about your tomboyish look, might be he likes you becoz you are good actually and not attracted to your looks itself.
