Of course, I know that no soda or pop is best for you. But if you have to have some, which is better for you, regular or diet?

I would've said diet a week ago, but thanks to a question I asked, diet pop has bad side effects.

This leads me to wonder if diet is actually worse for you

Here is the link to the question I asked:

The best answer has three links attached to it. Check them out, especially the last one. That site really got me thinking.

You're question is the same as asking "which cigarette is better Marlboro Red's or Marlboro lights?" I guess if you have to drink soda, drink regular....... Everytime you see anything that says "diet" or "light" or "half the fat" they're taking something out and putting something worse in. Get away from soda's.......

Anything containing the ingredient *Aspartame is dangerous. Though the researchers were not fully able to link the side effects on the brain and cancer, there was still clear evidence of an occurrence in lab rats. It is proven that when you do drink diet drinks the link between addiction to the drink is stronger than your average non-diet soda. It causes more severe migraines, mood swings and other serious symptoms when an avid drinker goes with out. When it comes to your health stick with natural ingredients if you must have something to drink with flavor. I would always suggest lots of water for good hydration. Again, until I see claims that prove these links between Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners to health problems are not true I will not be taking my chances nor should you.

With years of experience working for Pepsi, I have to say that diet is not that much worse for you, because it is a catch 22. If you are diabetic, you can not have the sugar, but on the otherhand, the non-diabetics may need to reduce their caloric intake. With either of these scenerios you must take the bad with the good, kind of weigh your options, and truthfully, if you are from the south, sweet tea has almos as much sugar in it. Sugar is natural of course, you can view that as a plus.

Plus, you never know if this stuff is actually going to have time to affect you, so live your life the best way to make you happy. If you like to feel healthy, drink water. If you don't care about your health, but rather your experiences, drink up.

When I became diabetic, I went to this seminar where the worst side effects were discussed. I guess this was supposed to be scared sugarless. The one doctor told a story of a woman with a mass in her stomach. The mass started with one of the sugarless sugars and it conglealed and collected larger food pieces and got bigger and bigger. She had to have an operation to get it out. The best thing you can do with soda is leave it alone. The regular stuff is just loaded with sugar and sugar is one thing to leave alone-especially if diabetes runs in your family. I've switched to Perrier for my bubbles even tho' I'm still boycotting French products. I've tried a few other mineral waters but they are just too salty. And while I would suggest water, if you live anywhere near me-the bottom of the USA with water flavored by Mexico, I would drink anything else.

The truth like you said....is that neither is good for you. The problem with the drinks is the soda and caffine and other crap they put in there. The best thing to drink is water. If you do need to drink soda then i suggest diet, because a regular soda is LOADED with sugar and calories and a whole bunch of crap that tastes good...but is horrible for you!

I don't know about all the web sites, but when my children were growing up, I did not allow them to drink diet. All of that stuff is artificial with varying side effects. Why not let them go natural--sucrose or sugar is not going to hurt a child. If they are not overweight, and they brush their teeth regularly, they are much better off ingesting natural than artificial.

I have always thought that drinking regular soda is better that diet soda, if you are going to drink soda. but of course if you drink it in moderation, because it has sugar in it, and we all know what too much sugar does. well, actually, it's not even sugar, it's high fructose corn syrup, which is worse than sugar. so, everything in moderation...is the answer.

Neither is good for you.
But in the long run regular has less affects. Regular is made of sugar and artificial colouring and additives. Diet is made of artificial sugar and coulouring and additives, the artificial sugar contains an ingredient that encourages your body to store weight.

depends on how much you drink. my aunt used to go through a case of regular coke a day, until the doctor said she would get diabetes from the sugar. so she drank a case of diet coke every day until she developed sever migraines from the chemicals. you can ingest too much of any fluid, even water can kill you if you drink enough, check the Internet for death by drinking to much water!

The best way to ask this question is to ask, "Which one is LEAST bad for you"
Drink the one that you ENJOY the most and try to limit yourself to only an amount you feel okay with.
