I know you're probably looking for some sort of "look at this bible passage" sort of answer or something, but read this closely:
Find the verse that says that masturbation is a sin.
Now, don't call up some garbage about "purity" & allude to suggested interpretations, etc. IT'S NOT IN THERE!!! Don't make something out to be a sin when God didn't say it was. Don't add to the word of God, don't take anything from it. Don't live in guilt or fear because of some man-made tradition tells you to. If you don't believe me, or make me out to be some sort of heretic, click the link below & listen to Dr. Dobson then.

While I don't know jack squat about this "purity pledge," I do know the bible.

Bible > purity pledge

I think you're question is great and a question that people need to ask more often. Sex in and of itself isn't bad, obviously God created it and it is good. But it was created with a purpose within marriage.

BUT be careful, once porn and sexual thoughts get in your mind, they can be like a cancer evolving and getting more and more consuming. I'm not saying that you're going to be a pervert overnight, but gauge yourself and be sure to have some close friends hold you accountable for your thoughts and lifestyle.

I personally think that the more pure you are, the happier you will be and the more productive you will be as an effective, productive person. There are so many other great things to focus on: carrer, family, serving others, your education, hobbies, how to make a friend feel cared for etc. You can think about sex all you want, just try and control yourself until you're married as much as you can. Having said all that sometimes it is tough and you may want to masturbate and look at inappropriate materials. If you do, forgive yourself and ask God's forgiveness and move on. Please, don't get tied up in guilt.

If you have taken the Purity Pledge willingly and for spiritual reasons then you already know the answer. Pray, relax and know that like all things you want to add to your life or bad habit you want to stop or change it will take time and practice and practice and practice. We come to God as sinners He knows that. And He KNOWS your heart and your true intentions. Find things that help you think of other things. And it isn't that you can never masturbate, but God wants you to learn selfcontrol and moderation in all things. Eating, drinking, gambling etc. If this is difficult wait until you are trying not to have sex. (if you haven't already been there?) Good luck, and even though we aren't always sure, we are never given more than we can handle! Be blessed in all things.

Well, first of all you have no control over the thoughts that come into your head...so NOT thinking about sex really isn't possible. NOT watching porn or reading suggestive materials will help.

Purity pledge is nothing, you can break it anytime you want or unintentionally.

Sudden cold shower is a good repel when you are about to have the urge.

Or get married !!! (18+)

there's not a thing wrong with flogging the monkey - tying the rope - whipping the post - massacring the snake - taking the shaft of shame for a scolding - spanking the frog. As for porn, what else can we use while waxing our carrot?

There is nothing wrong with masturbation. It is normal, natural, and fun. NO ONE can stop thinking about sex forever. We are sexual humans and God made us this way.

Please lose the irrational guilt laid on you by some idiotic religious book. Use common sense.

wow......about time that some has spoken up about this.

in jesus name.

my brother coming form me ive been there before and still i pray and pray for God to keep my focus more on Him and not this world-in jesus name.
really the devil attacts our minds; the battel is all in the mind. when we especially men have the free time thats when sex tends to hit us the hardest. the best way i delt with this was keeping busy mainly staying away from things that would draw me toward thinking about sex. at first its really hard but as it gets harder you need to pray harder. then God will show you just what it is that is drawing you so much toward the sexual urge. for me it was women that i deal with. im a music producer and i own my own production studio and before i gave my life to Christ for good this time, not just because but for me to do God's will. I noticed that some things were easy to let go and some were not. and for me dealing with beautiful women of all races that was my weakness. once i asked God for His help it got harder; only because the devil was made and yeah he is made at you right now but hang in there and pray, pray, pray. God reviled to me my weakness and i know now like when im in the mall or in walmart and i see a beautiful woman yeah i say "oh she fine as a mug" or " dang slim is um um " but even with me sayin all that i still ask God to forgive me and gaurd my mind. see the bible says "ALL HAVE FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD" and dog we serve the most powerfull and forgiving God; and He got you keep the faith and seek His face-in jesus name.

I think it's unhealthy and ineffective to try to stop yourself from thinking about something. If t will just make you want it more. If I told you not to think about bowling balls, what would be your first thought? You just have to fill your life with other things and find other ways to amuse yourself. It's o.k. to think about it. By the way, masturbation is not going to take away your virginity.

Thinking about sex is not sinful....it's how far you let those thoughts go. Be at peace.
