First off...I know it is no longer a part of the doctrine....but just humor me...
Since it is no longer practiced, and if a mormon DOES practice it and they are excommunicated could this be a suitable loophole...
just having a bunch of women living with you? Watch big love...it's about a guy who grew up on a compound, he was kicked out and found the truth of the LDS faith, then fell out of faith and went back to polygamy....but I don't think he actually married them, I think he just has kids with them and gives them a home and money....
So, is that still polygamy?

You can never legally marry more than one woman, in the eyes of the government, no matter which faith you belong to.

None of the marriages in religions that practice polygamy are legal, except the first marriage, all others would be considered illegal, and the person could be charged, if they attempted to be married by the courts.

You could call it "natural polygamy." Unless religious rite are involved. That is, if there is full acceptance of marital vows from both partners. There is considerable disagreement as to whether or not marriages after the first and during the life of the first wife are valid whatsoever.
I am not a member of the "LDSs."

Nope, no loophole. If a man lives with a woman/women without marriage, this, too, is grounds for excommunication.

You can get excommunicated from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for polygamy, adultery and fornication so it doesn't really matter what you call it, he could be excommunicated.

Polygamy means being married to more than one wife. If he's not married, then it's not polygamy.
He's doing a whole other set of sins there.

just for your information, Latter Day Saints are not allowed to "live with" any one of the opposite sex they are not married to, this also results in excommunication. Thanks for trying though
