In my knowledge, Krishna or Shiva are the personal Gods. This is the beauty of Hinduism that allows to choose a God of your liking and your nature and do the worship of your chosen Deity to attain the all pervading Universal God which is all Love only. In this sense both Krishna and Shiva are the same. On the other hand to give a suitably acceptable answer is quite difficult. As a Krishna's bhakta will say Krishna is Love and Shiva is destroyer or so on. But in reality both are the same with outcast difference. That's all

Bhagavan Shiva is part and paracel of Bhagavan Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead as His third potency (annihilation). Shiva is Piousness, purity and purification of the universe by cleansing bad / antisocial / anti-cultural elements. With this potency only Bhagavan Krishna has drank the poison that came out while churning ocean in search of nectar. There is no difference in Shiva, Rama, Krishna, Brahma. They are personified seperately by the devotees who were attracted to that particular potency.

Shiva is the divine self...the highest consciousness. Krishna is the loving manifestation of the same. In physics, they call it matter. Matter and energy together constitutes the physical universe as we know it. In Hinduism, these two aspects are called Shiva and Shakti. Together the two create life. Without one, the other is useless.

If Krishna is love then Shiva shows us that one should not be attached to the comforts and wordly matters more. There should be control and one can gain peace, happiness in simple way also. Death is certain and so never be afraid of destruction of one's body. One get new body after death. So pay more attention to the supreme god.

The destroyer. He assists Lord Krishna at the time of dissolution of the creation. That is his service to Krishna. His meditation is always on Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. He even wants to join the Rasa dance so he comes in disguise as Gopishvara. He is very quick to give his devotees their wishes because he does not want to be disturbed in his meditation on Vishnu's pastimes. So His servants should follow in his footsteps and accept Krishna and Vishnu as the Supreme Lord and accept Lord Shiva as their Guru. When one fully surrenders to Krishna who is the source of Lord Shiva they understand all incarnations as they truly are. Lord Shiva is in a category all by himself, because he is not jiva tattva or Vishnu Tattva. Meaning he is not God nor is He a jiva soul. So that is why he is so misunderstood. He is like yogurt. Yogurt is milk but it is milk transformed into yogurt. It is not exactly milk yet it is. (simple for the simple.)

Krishna, as a promoter of love, is illusion. Shiva as the portrayer of destruction, is reality. Our soul is separated from the Creator by illusion (maya)… like we say kaya (body), chhaya (a veil in between the body and the soul) and maya (illusion). Once we can transcend the veil and break the illusion of mortal belonging, we become one with the Creator. Shiva, as the destructor, makes us realize that nothing in this world is permanent, you have to destroy the old and re-create in order to continue life. Only the cycle of life and death is truth, everything else is illusion…but we need this illusion to continue with society, with our family. Hence the importance of love and Krishna.

Lord Shiva is all ,the combination of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu , Lord Shankar. hence Lord Shiva is Sachhidanand. and the Love experienced by the Lord Shiva is in the form of Sachhidanand , while the Love of the Lord Shiva exists all the time at the time of creation He experience it in the form of union like self lightened while the Love of the Lord Vishnu is also experienced in seperated form may be lightened by others . but the Love of Lord Vishnu or Lord Sri Krishna is nothing but that goes to Lord Shiva . i do not know how the Lord seperates himself in to three forms first and then into many ........................
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna ,Hare Hare , Hare Rama , Hare Rama, Rama Rama , Hare Hare
