Christians do not. The Bible does.
I do not understand how it is people ascribe the source of the message to the messenger, instead of the one who sent the message.
This is beginning to be the repeat question along the lines of the others to which many people lift their glass!

What does the Bible really say about homosexuality? Actually, very little. Most significantly, Jesus said nothing at all. Considering the relatively small amount of attention the Bible pays to the subject, we must ask ourselves why this is such a volatile issue. Other subjects about which the scriptures say a great deal (e.g. judgment, pride, hypocrisy) receive much less passionate attention. Before looking at specific passages, it is important to note that everyone understands the scriptures based on, and through, the light of what they have been taught. The Bible was not written in a cultural void, and many of its instructions and laws are simply classified as less relevant today (e.g. prohibition against eating pork).
Nowhere does the Bible actually address the idea of persons being lesbian or gay. The statements are, without exception, directed to certain homosexual acts. Early writers had no understanding of homosexuality as a psychosexual orientation. That truth is a relatively recent discovery

The reason any religion says homosexuality is wrong is because they want their members to reproduce and make more members, mostly to tithe and support the lavish lifestyles of the leaders. If you believe in God, then you *should* believe in love - there is no reason a man can't love a man truly and deeply such as a woman can love a man. There is no fear that humankind will die out because only 10% of the populace is gay.
A religion based on love understands that a person has to live the life they were given. Just like left-handed people or tall people can't *truly* change how they were born, neither can gays. A religion based on power condemns aspects that may negate that power.

Many state that the bible is simply a hate book designed to induce violence and hatred towards all those that don't believe the same way.
Stop and think for a minute. How are men and women made? Are they made to fit into each other, to derive pleasure from this? In fact, we are made to enjoy sex at the same time - to become part of each other and have pure pleasure and union with each other.
Does this work the same way for those that chose same sex partners? Do they get to experience that same sensation, or is it different because they have to get there differently? In their actions do they create life? Are our bodies actually creataed to do this?
G-d created man and woman to be partners. They both need each other yet are independent of each other. Even this is obvious throughout the rest of nature. When gender is evident, creatures do not pair themselves with the same sex but instead with a mate that can provide them off spring.
Even if one was not religious, had no belief in G-d or in scripture, could they actually say that homosexuality is truly natural? That it is something meant to happen, although there is no other evidence of it in nature?

Not to be rude, but yes, because God made Adam and Eve. Same sex -sex is not what he intended. Here is a link to the bible verses that speak against homosexuality. That being said, I do not believe it is some horrific worse-than-all-other-sins kind of sin. Sin is sin. When I tell a lie, I am sinning. When someone engages in homosexual sex, they are sinning. I am an alcoholic, and when I drank, I was sinning. I've been sober for 16 years. It goes against my nature to not drink or do drugs. I'm still an alcoholic, but I'm not engaging in that behavior. The consequences it brings me are too painful. When God set up these "rules" he was protecting us from ourselves, not taking away our right to have fun.

The prohibition in Leviticus is open to interpretation, as well as the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, but Romans makes it pretty clear.
To the extent that sin is the province of religion, if you don't ascribe to the faith that says the behavior is sinful, you have nothing to worry about UNLESS you are persecuted for being perceived as an homosexual. That is a different question.
I'm not Christian/Catholic, but I'm not in violation of any TOS or CG, so thanks for reading this anyway.

Christians believe the bible is the inspired word of God. God says in many places in the bible that sex is for a man and a woman only, within the context of marriage. Romans 1 very clearly outlines the sin of homosexuality. And God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gormorrah for this sin.
You want a "good reason" for it being a sin? Well dear, it is because God says it is.

I know what you are asking. The problem is sometimes we can't always see why something is potentially damaging. We have to trust that the instruction is correct. For instance, a hot stove may not look hot, but it is still smart not to touch it if we are told it is hot. We can trust the instruction if God has always been faithful and true in the past. I can't really give a statistical answer with increased crime rates or anything. All I can say is that it is a counterfeit of the love designed by God, and whether or not the danger is apparent, God gives us loving instruction for our benefit. It is imperative we follow it.

Hi. I am a Bisexual Christian.
The Bible says:
Leviticus 18
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
That right there has everything to do with it. What about that and me being bisexual AND Christian? Good point!
I am a Christian because I believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And I trust God by that resurrection to have paid for my sins. My perfection to that Law from Leviticus was never something that I could live by, neither are the other 612 Laws from the Law of Moses. It's impossible for me to do.
But Christians all over the place miss those points. They think that they have to try to live by all the Laws of Moses, and convince themselves that they are living by them, and they think that they are pleasing God by doing so.
It's not true. All sin, but all don't trust God. Only those who trust God are saved. Homosexual or not.
