I just started watching this girls son who is 3 hes really a sweet kid but his mom. She is just another story. She dropped him off at 4 and told me shed be back at 10 she didnt show up til 11:30 then told me she was going to need me to watch him the next morning at 7a.m so i got up and she never showed i called her and no answer then she calls the next day and says she needs me to watch him for about an hour cause she has to go to court for drug charge..yes i said it drug charges anyways she leaves him here and doesnt come back for 4 hours. I asked her the other day about when she was going ot pay me and said she didnt have change today and shed bring it the next morning she didnt show so i still didnt get money. Today she said she had to go get her check then was online when she was supposed to be getting it. I know she keeps him out all night long cause when they left here at 1130 she kept him out til 440 he cries when he has to leave and says he wants to stay with me.

When he first got here the first day she just left him she didnt even come into my house to see if it was clean or well kept or anything she didnt even call to check to see how he was. Today when she came to get him she asked me if i had an extra carseat because she doesnt have one. I did have one but id idnt give it to her now i feel horrible. What if he gets hurt while hes with her because i didnt give her the extra carseat i had? i just feel bad and shes always asking me to keep him over night and i feel obligated to do so cause i feel bad for him. I dont know what to do

That is a sad situation and is most unfortunate for the child. In order to protect yourself from being used in this situation, you need to tell her that you can't keep him again until shew pays you. You can even say that you're sorry about that but you have bills that have to be paid and you'll have to babysit someone else's child. If I were in that situation I would also contact child protective services. It is unlikely that they will do much about this but they will keep a record of it that may help in the future.

This is obviously a child in jeopardy. Please call CPS and tell them everything that has happened. Stress that she told you she was dealing with drug charges. Tell them how you know he's out so late.
I know it is hard not to be paid but you are protecting this child from serious danger.
I read your additional comment. If she just got him back there should be a caseworker and a record of the case. Make sure you mention that when you report. If you are a licensed day care provider you are a mandated reporter. In any case, making the report is the right thing to do.

Keep documentation of all the things the mother is and isn't doing.. She's not being safe with her child and you might need to call social services/child welfare... At this point the money should be the last thing you should be concerned with, the mother shouldn't have this child.. Is there another guardian/family member you could talk to about the situation.? The child is lucky to have you watching him, god only knows what she would be doing if she didn't have you as a sitter...

You can't keep this child safe all the time, you just can't. You also shouldn't and probably can't buy everything this child needs. However you are morally, and in many places legally, obligated to report a child that you suspect may be being neglected or abused. Note I said SUSPECTED, you don't need proof, you can't and shouldn't wait until you know for sure.

Call children's services, report her. I would hope with drug charges they are watching her already -but too many times things fall through the cracks.

You have an obligation to this child to report her! I know it sounds awful and you don't want to cause problems, but if you really care about him, do whatever you can to make sure he is taken care of... he's 3 years old and begging you to keep him rather than let his mother take him... it's obvious he isn't being cared for. Please do your part to help this little boy!!!

Report her. And don't feel sorry for her. It is the child who deserves and needs better than she's giving him.
