I just got spacers yesterday. They don't hurt very much now, but the orthodontist told me that it is possible for some to fall out, but that that was okay since that would just mean that it had made enough room. Before he told me that he warned me not to chew gum AT ALL when I get braces because it would flex the wires until they break, and if I swallowed a wire I would maybe have to have surgery. Now the question is, what if I'm sleeping and a spacer falls out, and I swallow it? I don't think it would be dangerous, since the same could happen with a tooth and it would probably pass normally, but I'm not sure. Please try to give honest answers, but not ones that can be overly scary..I want to get some sleep the next 5 nights until I get them taken out. :) Thanks!

Thank you for all of the answers. Hopefully none will fall out at all at night, but if any do at least I can know that most likely it will just pass through normally. I'm not very good at choosing best answers so I'll have to wait until people vote, but thank you to everyone that answered. =)
