Man does NOT have an eternal immortal soul. This is a lie professed by churches that originated with Satan in the garden. Satan said that it was not true and told Eve, "Ye shall not surely die" Genesis 2:16. We are what we are. No we don't turn into ghosts or angels with halos and harps.
Think about it. If people went to hell immediately after death (sleep) or heaven. Why would they need to be resurrected for judgment. Even our own crooked man-made legal system allows us a trial (most of the time).
This world was created for us in the beginning. And will be reestablished for us at the end of the age with a blessing of eternal life. That's why we don't know of anything past. Though Jesus knew us before we were born. The world is our home.
God bless

The word of God is foolishness to those who perish .
The fool has said in his heart there is no God.
The Bible says don't waste your time arguing with fools.
And heaven is being created by Jesus right now and when
he returns we will all recieve new bodies so heaven is not for souls it's for our new bodies with our souls. An atheist can't
understand the Bible no more than I can understand what
an atheist believes. And why should I even try? The fact that you are asking questions shows you must be having doubts.

1) not everyone is.
2) the body is created, and then a soul takes up residence.
"shouldn't you have prior experiences before your soul was put into your physical form?"
yes, your point is?
almost all do. this does not neccesarily mean that you conciously *remember* them.
basically most people are made to mostly (varying degrees of "amnesia are appropriate for any particular situation) forget their previous lives, and the time between-lives, (while some people have been able to regain this knowlege, from my understanding very very few naturally remember the time between, though its not *that* uncommon for people to remember at least large fragments of their previous life.
remember, just because *you* do not feel/sense/remember/experience something, that does not mean that nobody else does.

The soul is a "created" thing, but a "thing" that is eternal once it has been created. Sort of like a fruitcake... once it has been created it lasts forever ... will never be eaten... mostly used as a doorstop... passed on from person to person... generation to generation... ... well.. okay... not EXACTLY like a fruitcake!!!!
Heaven was not "created" and it is not a place "for our souls." Heaven is the "presence of God," it is whatever "place" but more towards a state of being where God IS. Hell, on the other hand, is also NOT a "created place," but it is the "state" of being whereever God is NOT.
When we (Christians) say that you will go to hell if you do not believe in God, we are saying that you will not be "in God's presence" if you do not believe in God... kinda a "DUH" statement there if you really think about it. If you don't believe in God, how can you be in His presence? Kinda also makes you think why people accuse Christians of NOT thinking about their faiths.
Oh, but I digress.... In any case, have a blessed day!

Probably because there was nothing before our birth. Im a Christian and I believe just as God is 1 in essence, so is humanity. Yet like God, we shed billions upon billions of personalitys from the same essence from which our soul is most likely derived. That is why God can easily say we are all sinners and why when Adam sinned, we ALL sinned. Kind of like when everyone is born, God cuts off a piece of cheese froma soul cheeseblock but it never runs out. He could make as much as he wanted but he does have a certain measure in mind. Why? Who knows.

If God is able to create something out of nothing, I do believe that the soul is created by God just as the man's body is made. Is it still eternal if it has a beginning, but no end? I do not know. Perhaps the soul does not retain memory -- experiences only emotion. No one really knows. :)

As a Mormon, our doctrine is that we did exist before the world was as Spirit offspring of God. We were taught of spiritual things, of things we would be doing on the earth and of matters pertaining to our eternal salvation. We were given talents, weaknesses, strengths, personalities...
Everything that we were given was to help us in our earthly life.
The reason we don't remember, is that there has been a veil put in place, a type of spiritual curtain (if you will), that prevents us from seeing or remembering our past spiritual life. The reason behind that is so that we don't know all the answers already, but that we learn to seek them. That we may also learn to trust ourselves, to depend on each other, and find out for ourselves if we will follow God because we want to, and not because we have to.

We only have one flesh life, and the brain (flesh) carries the memories that we accrue in this life only. Those souls that will have eternal life will exist in spiritual bodies that will be at perfect peace in the Kingdom of Heaven with the Lord as ruler and king.
(Rev 21:4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Gods plan is far wiser than the wisest man. Every man that has ever walked this earth is like a new born baby compared to the intelligence of God.
