For the same reason they don't use the bike path that is right next to the road. Instead they use the road where the traffic is. I understand when there's not a lane or a path and there is no choice. I see riders blow stop sign all the time. I don't when ride my bike. If I did that in my car or on motorcycle they would scream bloody hell. Some bike riders (not all) act like the rules of the road do not apply to them.

Yes, cyclists must stop at Stop signs. That's about the worst excuse I've ever heard by a driver who hit a cyclist. @ Shania: Cyclists are expected to act as drivers of vehicles on the road. That means a bike should be ridden in exactly the same way as a car is operated - this is the law. Honestly, have you ever bothered to read your driver's handbook? How do people like you even get a license?

Good for you that you are following traffic laws. I've come so close many times to hitting a bicyclists because they trn in front of me or run a stop sign. They don't even know how close they come to being hit because they aren't looking.

Some people do not stop at signs while riding on a bike because it does not have a license plate

They are suppose to, and its good that you do, but then again i can understand the hassle of stopping at every stop sign when peddling a bike.

Good for you!
I think police like to look the other way a lot.
People who don't stop are asking for trouble.
They can get hit by a car and who do you think will get hurt more?

I think it's just because it sucks to start and stop when on a bike...especially if you are an actually cyclist and have those shoes that click and hinge with the pedals
