it makes you lazy for one. alters your mood and makes you get aggravated alot easier especially when you stop for a few days.. also it interupts your dream cycle and you do not dream as much..dreaming is very important. as it also makes everything better, foods, sunsets, movies etc.. so when your not high your robbed of your ability to enjoy life to some degree as nothing compares (unless your a long time user then the high is just not even worth it anymore unless you take a couple months off) .also the smoke IS more carcinogenic the cig smoke as cig smoke is filtered. Rarely people can suffer from marijuana psycosis and the paranoia can effect you everyday life (heavy smokers).

Is it gonna kill you if you smoke a joint once in a blue moon..no but don't start smoking all the time.. the problems are more subtle but still there. I imagine its like anything moderation is the key.

Beyond the fact that, if you smoke it, you are pulling a burning gas into your lungs, with all the damage that can happen from that, the fact is the pot IS NOT as bad as cigarettes. Those who say that one marijuana joint is worse than several cigarettes are simply parroting misinformation handed down from the days of J.D. Anslinger. God put pot on this planet to be used by people when they have certain needs, such as stress reduction, sleep inducement, evening-out of bipolar swings, apetite boosting, etc.
I am a pot user, and I have a prescription from my doctor to use it. The first time I was ever given pot was when I was in my late teens, by an E.R. doctor who saw that I was so stressed and lacking in sleep and basic function because I was taking care of my mother, who was addicted to prescription pain killers, that I was a nervous wreck. He gave me some pot to smoke when I got home.
For the first time in my life, that night, I slept the whole night through, and awoke the next morning refreshed and alert! No more insomnia, no more horrific nightmares.
My mother, on the other hand, eventually died of an overdose of pain killers, Vicodin and Soma. My step father would become physically abusive after two drinks of alcohol. People on pot don't do that. I have been smoking pot for over 34 years. I have NEVER used any other drugs, have never smoked cigarettes, and only drink a little wine a few times a week. This stuff about it being a gateway drug is just more hogwash that's been shoved down our throats by the tobacco industry and, again, Anslinger. If a person chooses to use hard drugs, I can tell you from my experience as a caregiver, it's because they simply don't want to do the work of excercising willpower and choosing to stay away from harder drugs, including cigarettes. And, Pot has no nicotine. Nicotine is so poisonous, that if you distill a pack of cigarettes down to its nicotine content, it can be used as a contact poison deadly to humans with just a slight touch or when put on the end of a dart or needle. Pot has no such poison.
When I smoke some pot (usually about 3-5 "hits" or puffs) I can concentrate on my computer work, my writing, or my painting, without the distractions from my problems with Tourette's Syndrome, Obsessive-Compulsive disorder, or the mood swings from the Bipolar syndrome. I also have AIDS, and one of the problems with AIDS is the wasting effect, where you become anorexic, which happened to me because I had no appetite. Also, the drugs I have to take for my condition sometimes cause nausea and insomnia or very intense nightmares, and the pot has helped me to deal with those side effects, and allowed me to function on a normal level.
So, all those who are saying how horrible marijuana is, I hope you never end up with cancer, AIDS, glaucoma, or any other condition where pot is effacatious, because you'll be out of luck, or a hypocrite.

And, lastly, if it was good enough for Carl Sagan, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, it's good enough for me!

it really isnt.
heres facts. if you dont beleive me than go research it.

first of all marijauna kills about as much brain cells as dehydration.
scientists have proved that the thc does not in fact kill much brain cells but does stun the nerve endings in the hippocampus. however they also proved that this effect on the brains nerves are completely reversible. meaning that if you quit weed for a few months your brain will go back to normal.

now for the lungs. heavy pot smoking is bad and will most likely lead to coughing and difficulty breathing, but never cancer. the thc in your lungs will kill cancer causing bacteria, yes i know its hard to beleive. go research it. i recommend you make some nice space cake or hash brownies just to be safe.

gateway shmateway. just dont be an idiot. stick with weed and only weed and you'll be fine.

my advice. go smoke a few bowls with some freinds and have a good time.

It can deplete dopamine which causes people to seek out stronger drugs to feel the same high that they'd have felt while smoking marijuana alone. That's called brain damage. That's why it IS a gateway drug.

It's amazing the lengths people will go to delude themselves into believing something they want to do isn't bad for them. Just look what's it done to your poor typing skill.

apparently it's a gateway drug and people who smoke marijuana are more likely to try other, harder drugs. other than that and what you've said, it isn't as bad for you as most drugs, and doctors even prescribe it sometimes.

It's not as bad for you as most drugs, but it is common for marajuana to be laced with fiber glass and other materials that can be fatal. A joint also is seven times worse for your lungs than a cigarratte.

It also has the lovely effect of rendering males infertile, no longer able to make viable sperm for reproduction.

there are way more positive aspects to smoking marijuana than there are to the negative ones. look at some of the greatest singers/songwriters, philosophers and poets, etc. out there. they succeeded.
