My 13 month old daughter just got 14 stitches on her cornea from a diagonal laceration extending from the middle of her pupil to the bottom of her iris. I am wondering if she'll be able to see out of her injured eye.

oh yes, the cornea is one of the most rapidly healing tissues in the body. She will be able to see fine once it has healed up, just make sure she keeps her hands away from the eye, hard to do in a baby, but necessary as she could cause infection and that would lead to scarring and loss of sight.

My best friends dad had that happen to him. They eventually had to remove his eye because of blood buildup. We call him pirate jack now when he wears his eye patch. If they don't remove her eye she probably will have some trouble seeing in that eye its just the way it goes. Eyes don't repair themselves very well in single numbers. Generally for your eye to repair its self they both have to do it. Your body will send things to help repair a damaged eye and it can't be sent to jsut one it has to go to both. So if your other eye is fine the things that are used to repair your eye can damage it. Sorry.
