This might reduce people just throwing out any old answer just to get their 2 points and encourage everyone to only answer a question if there was a chance they could get Best Answer. Think of all the fluff it would clear out. Instead of 15 answers all saying the same thing, we'd get more substance. Thoughts?

I think there's probably some margin of error in that one as well.
If you eliminated voting by IP address, and some bias in "Best Answer" choosing, etc....you might have yourself a case.

At first my answer was no, but after reading your arguments, I would have to say your proposal has merit as there are way to many opinions on the questions asked whether than an answer to the question or people just answering for points. I think that instead of by Best Answers, its by votes. If your answer recieves a negative vote, it brings down your total and vice versa. I think the way it stands now, negative votes just hide the answer, but I could be wrong about that. Something should be down to help cut out the stupidity.

Who cares!!! The level thing is kinda nice but really the point is to help not be the most prolific answerer. I would rather have 1 point and really help someone who needs it than have a million just by working the system.

To get best answer all you have to do is agree with the questioners point of view, where is the fun in that?

What if some level one guy answers his own question from another account, gives himself best answer, and has %100.
