I'm going into my second year of college and am renting an unfurnished townhouse with 4 other friends. I have a decent amount of furniture I need to take along with clothes etc. I live about 90 miles away from the school and I'm just wondering what the best/cheapest way to haul everythign would be.

I suggest you just rent a truck, (parents will probably have to do this, as most companies require you to be 25 or older), Take only what's necessary, bed, no dressers or just a small one. Remember that anything you bring there you will either have to get rid of or bring back someday. Anything that you will put in community areas should only be what you don't care about. It is quite likely it will be destroyed by someone eventually. You may be able to trust your friends, but can you trust your friends friends, or acquaintances?

I was five and a half hours away from my college. Your going to have to research, but the cheapest way for me to haul everything from NJ to VA was to rent a pick up truck.

A Uhaul truck would have worked to, but we got a good deal on a rental pick up.

Any of your friends have pick-ups and/or vans? Ask if they could help. Your four other friends may want to help out too.
If you do have you friends move you make sure to throw a party or something as a thank-you.
