My cat has had a UTI for 3 weeks. The vet prescribed her with meds and at first they seemed to be working but now she is not using the litter box again and has blood in her urine. She has also been vomiting a lot. I took her to an animal hospital and they gave her some new medicine and also some pills for the vomiting. She still seems sick and there is still blood present in the urine. Is there anything else I can do to make her feel more comfortable or anything else I need to do??? PLEASE HELP

We are on the 2nd day of cephalexin! Also the other medicine for vomiting. Well as soon as the cephalexin is given to her she throws it back up! Im running out of money quickly and I feel bad because I really need to get her vet attention even though she has been 2 times in 2 weeks. Anyone know what to do?

are they sure it is a UTI then? since blood in the urine could be other stuff too. how about give her some yogurt? so she gets the good bacteria in her system. maybe wipe her w/ a baby wipe down there to clean off any bateria she may have. make sure litter box is really clean. i thought there were cranberry pills you can buy- since i know cranberry juice helps us. is she drinking plenty of water? she needs to flush that out of her system if it is a UTI...otherwise you may need to take her back.

Did your vet determine what is causing the UTI? There are many causes. Did he run a full urinalysis? Did he take an xray to look for bladderstones? If she's an older cat, bloodwork should have been done to check for kidney disease as well. Cats do not typically vomit with UTI's, so I'm suspecting something else is going on. She's not using the litter box because she is associating it with pain. There are medications that can help with pain and inflammation. Special diets can be beneficial as well. If she truly has an infection, then the antibiotic might not be the right one, and the urine can be cultured for sensitivity. If your vet can't figure it out, I'd get another opinion.

My cat had the same thing bloody urine he wasn't useing the litter box and vomiting. When I took him to the vet they tested his urine and he had crystals in that wasa causeing him pain and the bleeding. They gave me some pills he took for a week and made me put him on a special diet. Science Diet you can get at the vet or at Petsmart the c/d formula. It has a high content of turine which balances out the cats PH level to stop the formation of the crystals. And my cat has been health every since. I would go to a different vet and be sure to bring a sample of your cats urine for them to test. The total cost for my visit was 50.00 pluse the food was 13.00

Get a second opinion from another vet.
