First:
The basic difference between the two religions is that in Islam is based on Monotheism (oneness of god). In Islam it's a great sin to associate a son or partner with god or to say that Jesus is god or to believe in trinity.
Of course this is only one point in the comparison but it's the most important and basic point.
Here are Quran verses that illustrate this:
"O people of the Scripture! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allâh aught but the truth. The Messiah Īsā(Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allâh and His Word, ("Be!" - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rûh)[] created by Him; so believe in Allâh and His Messengers. Say not: "Three (trinity)!" Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allâh is (the only) One Ilâh (God), glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allâh is All¬Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs. " Quran[4:171]
"Surely, they have disbelieved who say: "Allâh is the Messiah Īsā (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)." But the Messiah Īsā(Jesus) said: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allâh, my Lord and your Lord." Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allâh, then Allâh has forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode[]. And for the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers) there are no helpers (72) Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allâh is the third of the three (in a Trinity)." But there is no llâh (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilâh (God -Allâh). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall on the disbelievers among them (73) Will they not turn with repentance to Allâh and ask His Forgiveness? For Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.[] (74) The Messiah ['Īsā (Jesus)], son of Maryam (Mary), was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother [Maryam (Mary)] was a Siddiqah [i.e. she believed in the words of Allâh and His Books (see Verse 66:12)]. They both used to eat food (as any other human being, while Allâh does not eat). Look how We make the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) clear to them, yet look how they are deluded away (from the truth) (75) " Quran [5:72-75]

this is an article named : "what do Muslims believe about Jesus?" I think u will find useful
Second:
There are many similarities between the two religions,
-belief in Angels
-Belief in previous scriptures
-Belief in prophets
-Belief in the day of judgement
Muslims uphold and respect the following scriptures:
(i) The Quran itself, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
(ii) The Torah (Tawrah in Arabic) revealed to the Prophet Moses (different from the Old Testament read today).
(iii) The Gospel (Injeel in Arabic) revealed to Prophet Jesus (different from the New Testament read in churches today).
(iv) The Psalms (Zaboor in Arabic) of David.
(v) The Scrolls (Suhuf in Arabic) of Moses and Abraham.
Third, Muslims believe whatever is true in them and has neither been altered or deliberately misconstrued.
Fourth, Islam affirms that God revealed the Quran as a witness over the previous scriptures and confirmation of them, because He says therein:
“And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad) the Book (the Quran) in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it and trustworthy in highness and a witness over it (the collection of old scriptures)…” (Quran 5:48)
For more about Muslims belief in previous scripture see this article: http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/36/
Muslism belief in prophets: http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/37/
Muslims belief in life after death and the day of judgement:
A Day will come when God will resurrect and gather the first and the last of His creation and judge everyone justly. People will enter their final abode, Hell or Paradise. Faith in life after death urges us to do right and to stay away from sin. In this life we sometimes see the pious suffer and the impious enjoy. All shall be judged one day and justice will be served.

people think Islam is a backward and an old religion with no hint of modernism. The fact is that Islam is the most modern religion , newer than Christianity and Judaism, and incorporates all the right teachings of those previous religions and ack's all the Prophets of the past. Christian material has been altered many times whereas the Holy Quran is the same as it was 1500 years ago.
Also, in 1932, two of Muhammad PBUH's companions were taken out of their graves and reburried. The miracle of this event is that their bodies looked as if they were burried a few hours ago. Many people were amazed by this miracle and converted to Islam. This is one of the evidences of the truthfulness of Islam You will find many people who convert to Islam but rarely a person who converts from Islam to other religions.

They are only praying to God
representations of humans or animals in the mosque are forbidden, they display only fragments of Quran
It is not compulsory for women to pray in the mosque,

It depends on whether you wnt to talk totally about Their differences, similarities or both. You just need something that connects all of your ideas together. for example, that is why the ________ of Christianity is so similar but yet so different from the ________ of Islam. Maybe include the thought of Jesus being resurected and/or Jesus being sinless or something like that. And also something about the islam faith to contribute to that same main point, whatever it is going to be.

Hi,
How about the topic, "the Quran & the Bible.
The Qur'an and the Bible
by Dr. M. Amir Ali, Ph.D.
The Muslims and non-Muslims consider the Qur'an and the Bible to be their respective books of guidance without realizing the vast differences between the two. Firstly, the Bible is a scripture and many Muslims erroneously consider the Qur'an to be a scripture. In the Qur'an, Allah describes the Qur'an as "Al-Kitab", meaning "the Book", which is the right name for it. The Bible is called a scripture and if asked about the authorship, Christians tell you that there were forty-some persons, rarely a prophet or a messenger among them, who wrote the Bible under divine inspiration. The concept of divine inspiration is an assumption without verification. Whereas, the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad Sall-Allahu 'alaihi wa sallam (henceforth denoted as S) who dictated to his scribes, the most honorable companions. In the sense of authorship the Bible is a scripture whereas the Qur'an is not a scripture but a revealed book.
The Qur'an talks about the TAURAT, ZUBOOR and INJEEL which were the books revealed by Allah to the Prophets Musa, Dawood and 'Isa 'alaihumus-salaam, respectively, which are not the same books as the Bible. Due to the similarity of some contents of TAURAT, ZUBOOR and INJEEL, some people equate them with the Torah and Psalms of David and the Gospels respectively, which is an error. This has given an excuse to the Christian missionaries to present the Bible in the native languages of the Muslim countries as the TAURAT, ZUBOOR and INJEEL of the QUR'AN and confuse and confound naive Muslims. The revealed Taurat, Zuboor and Injeel were revealed books which are extinct, whereas, the Bible may contain some parts of Taurat, Zuboor and Injeel in modern-day language translation in corrupt form. A translation of a revealed book cannot be the word of God because in the process of translation the word of God is transformed into the word of man. In the language of revelation (Arabic or Aramaic or Hebrew) only one manuscript or codex could be the word of God, whereas, there can be an infinite number of translations by man. It is, therefore, agreed by Muslim scholars that any translation of the Qur'an is not the word of God and does not qualify to be called the Qur'an. Non-Arabic speaking people should be able to benefit from translations but no one should depend upon a single translation because no translation is free of errors. A translation represents the understanding or lack of it by the translator himself. If any one desires to become a scholar of the Qur'an there is no choice but to learn the Arabic language of the Qur'an and gain expertise in it.
One of the major sources of corruption of the Bible is translation and translations of translations. With regards to the Gospels of the Christians, there is no record of even writing down any document when Jesus received revelations. It is believed by the Christians that the first records of the teachings of Jesus (A) and his life were made decades after his disappearance and it was in the Greek language. The earliest manuscript available is from the fourth century after Jesus. In the case of the Old Testament, it was written in Hebrew and its dialects, but was destroyed at least twice by the enemies of Judaism in ancient times without leaving a single copy and was rewritten from memory, one of the sources of corruption. The Qur'an was recorded in writing as well as in the memory of many people in the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (S) and was compiled in book form according to his directions by his companions shortly after his death. It is, therefore, suggested that Muslims should not apply the term "scripture" to the Qur'an. "Al-Kitab", when used in the Qur'an, should be translated simply as "the Book".

1. Different Place, different Time, different people's spoken Language and different Context among which Jesus-The-Christ and/or Mohammad-Al-Rasool appeared.
2. Difference between how to consider Isaac and/or Ismael (and their mothers).
3. Difference between the "Degree" of the two "Prophets" (Jesus and Mohammad): the one was born from The-Holy-Ghost support and Maryam (the mother), while the second one was born from two human beings like everyone of Us was born (AbduLlah and Amyna, if I righteously remember).
4. Jesus-The-Christ pointed out the importance to keep in touch with the Spiritual "face" of our human life, while Mohammad-Al-Rasool pointed our the importance to keep in touch with the Spiritual and Matterial "faces" of our human life.
5. BOTH OF THE PROPHETS MESSAGE (THE ONE OF JESUS AND THE ONE OF MOHAMMAD) WERE REPORTED TO US (NOWADAYS) NOT BY THEM DIRECTLY BUT BY THEIR FOLLOWERS (THE QUESTION IS: WERE THOSE MESSAGES REPORTED IN THE RIGHT WAY???!!!).
6. God is the Light. (This is an agreement which you will find both in the Messages of Jesus and/or Mohammad). SO: INNER LIGHT!

So far apart physically, so close spiritually. (base this on the nature of the international debate - that place people so far apart, but actually they are on different paths, trying to get to the same destination)
