Now where in the bible does it say to get out your gay pride posters and march for gay marriage rights. In fact, it says that homosexuals won't inherit the kingdom of God, and that they should be put to death. Where do these people get off outright lying about what is in the bible and what isn't?

Leviticus 18:22
“ And with a man you shall not lie with as a man lies with a woman; it is an abomination. ”

Leviticus 20:13 states:
“ If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

1 Corinthians 6:8-10 says, "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."

Romans 1:24-27 says, "Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due."

By they way, I'm an atheist, but I still believe that someone should stand by their beliefs and not bend them to suit their own desires.

I don't understand it either, and I am glad to see a non-believer reaching the same conclusions. It means that there is a straight foward reading to the verses.

Most claim that homosexuality now isn't the same thing back then. Or that these verses aren't referring to what we now know as homosexuality.

I can't see how Paul or the Law for that matter, could have been more explicit.

Others claim that it doesn't matter what the bible says, that G-d is a G-d of love and that they will be okay.

I don't get it either - why follow a faith system that condemns you? And then try to force it to approve of you?

Well for an atheist, youre great at quoting and interpreting Scripture. Apparently you know the Scriptures better than hypocrites. Now all you have to do is muster an ounce of faith! But they do come up with elaborate evasions and say things like "well what Paul really meant was this..."

The Bible categorically condemns the act of homosexuality. If some feel that they cannot live within the confines of a natural hetero marriage, then they need to stay single and not ever have relations with the same sex. One cannot expect to enter Heaven and not listen to what God has said.

True, but the Bible condemns a lot of other things. Sodom was destroyed primarily because its people mistreated the poor and the strangers. The Bible condemns hypocrisy, drunkenness, lying, arrogance, hatred. So when some Christians, or religious people major on homosexuality, some of the rest of us think there is an imbalance. Especially since homosexuality, among other things, is presented in Romans 1 as being more a consequence of a much deeper problem.
Those who claim the Bible doesn't condemn homosexuality are either ignorant of the Bible, or deliberately lying, or simply overcompensating because they are sick of seeing self-righteous sinners condemn one single sin only.

I am a Christian and to be honest I agree that is what it says, but it also says to be tolerant and loving of others as well. So many take what they want to follow from the Bible and just ignore the rest or claim it no longer applies in this day and age. But if they like it then of course it applies.

Now I belong to the LDS church and we do have a Prophet to help us know what God wants in this day and age because nations, laws and what is tolerated changes. I agree that Homosexuality is a sin but I also believe that you have the right to choose how you want to live your life as long as you are willing to accept the consequences of your actions. I will not tell you what to believe so please don't tell me what to believe either.

Hope this helps you understand. Basically human nature to not always do as we know we should.

When a person finds out that there is a power or authority over them then that person by adult nature want to buck the system. Tear down the authority that restricts for what is a more free and self full filled lifestyle.

God set His laws to define what is good. The law does not condemn anyone, but defines what is good. When a choice to not follow what is good, that choice is the act of bringing condemnation. Man therefore condemns himself for his choices to do what is not good by the parameters of the law.

The Lord is my shelter, I shall not want : the first part is the greatest thing and the second is the root of all evil gone unchecked and not adhering to what God says is good.

Yes the bible does say it, people are lying. But that's because they still want salvation like everyone else, and no one wants to believe they are going to go to hell.

But I'm an atheist, so I couldn't give a rat's azz about what the bible says.

I support gay marriage, there is no reason they should not have the same rights as any other marriage.

Well, the thing is, how do you know that's what God said? I'm pretty sure that was before writing was invented. It doesnt make sense, and most of the Bible contredicts itself. Also, if you read it closely, you can tell that it's written by several different people. The writing styles are completely different. And I think a few guys just wanted to have power over everybody else, so they wrote this bible. Why do you think they banned birth control? Bigger numbers.

Also, If you're an athiest, how do you know the Bible so well anyway? Just wondering.

The Levitican laws are idiocy. They're hypocritical.

"You're gay, so you gots ta die."

Um, yeah. Isn't murder a sin?

Also, most Christians eat pork and shellfish. That's talked about in Leviticus, too. But, whoopsie, nobody mentions that.

Besides, go with the KJV. It's the only one this Buddhist will even touch with a ten-foot pole.

the only argument they have is that Jesus did not speak about homosexuality but in just going on that they commit idolatry. They pick and choose what scripture they want to believe. They create a God in their mind that is more comfortable with them.

Yeah, well the bible was written by a bunch of delusional kooks. I think I'll write a book saying that God hates homophobes. Then YOU will sure be in a world of shyt.
