im gonna be totally honest with u...before i went to the dentist today i hadnt been in 9 years. it wasnt that we couldnt afford it..it was becuase i was so scared...but i finally decided that i wanted my teeth to be good white and straight and healthy when i get older. i went and they did a cleaning it didnt hurt once a bit. and i brush my teeth daily and they said my teeth were as helathy as they could be and i have to get braces but im not scared. they actually said 14 was a good age to get braces b/c they can tell better the way that your teeth r gonna go. they were gonna do xrays but they said that i could wait to go to the ortho and that would be best anyways b/c there it is free. i have two small cavities i gota get filled but they said that they r realllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy small ones..itll only take less than 10 minutes for each tooth. now that ive gone and its over with i have no clue why i was so scared but im glad that i went. and your cuz should feel the same way too. hope that helps.

If he is going for a cleaning, they will do some x-rays, maybe periodontal charting (if he is over 18) and clean his teeth. That's it. The hygienist or who ever is cleaning your cousin's teeth will ask questions, like how long has it been, and do you floss and questions like that. If your cousin is going for an examination because he might have a problem, the dentist will do an examination with x-rays probably and discuss hygiene and any treatment options your cousin will have regarding any treatment. Nothing bad will happen, they will not pull a tooth or do anything unless your cousin consents to it. I'm not going to sugar coat this, it's been 4 yrs and even though your cousin brushes every day, how many times? It is recommended twice a day with daily flossing. Your cousin can possibly build up sub-calculus plaque (which builds up below the gum line) and may have to come back for deep cleaning. It is important that your cousin keeps up with his/her oral health. It is the basis for overall health. Bad oral health is just bad mojo.

You want the dentist to do an overall check with xrays and gum probing (for gum disease). Sometimes the dentists let the hygienist see the new patient first and do an assessment, others like to do the initial exam and then send to the hygienist for cleaning. It just depends on the policy of the dentist. Usually the person making the appointment will tell you what will happen on the first visit. If she doesn't just ask.

They'll probably take a huge amount of x-rays. Of course they'll do a cleaning. And they might even do a scaling (a cleaning that goes a little deeper into the gums). Then of course they'll need to fix whatever problem that may have occurred over the past 4 years.

in case you have the insurance then flow. You amy have a small hollow area which you don't recognize approximately and its extra helpful to get them dealt with on an identical time as they are small, it's going to fee much less and be much less painful. Plus getting a cleansing performed will help your tooth stay healthful interior the long-term in case you haven't any longer have been given insurance back faster or later.

I'm guessing he won't be sent to dental prison. He will have his teeth cleaned and they will tell him what care needs to be taken or if he needs any repair, Just like a regular appointment for anyone who goes
They will probably encourage him to return more often than every four years, keep in mind prevention is less expensive than repairs!

They will;
1)Take X-rays if you want them to
2)Examine your teeth if you want them to
3)Discuss with you any treatment you need if you allowed them to do an exam
4)Clean your teeth if you want them
5)Bill you for what you wanted them to do and they did.
