If you are thinking about a mouse, what about a rat?

Mice...
-Very small, do not need much space
-enjoy cage mates
-Take time to tame
-Can bite, but if handled from a young age, tend not to
-Escape out of very small openings and are very hard to fin
-Do not listen to you (you may get lucky and teach it to come to you for a treat, but it doesnt happen often)
-SMELL!!! Mice have a very distinct, unpleasent smell, they have to have thier cage cleaned constantly (often more than once a week to keep the smell down)
-They are very cute and fun to watch run around

Rats...
-Make amazing pets
-Easy to tame and train
-Potty training is easy and helps with cage smell
-They smell the least of all small animals
-They are one of the most intelligent animals...(some rats are even smarter than some dogs)
-They will learn to come when they are called, so they wont get lost...you call and they will come back to you...
-They love cage mates, and end up craving human attention
-They need to be taken out of the cage daily...you can let them run around, but should also give each rat individual attention
-They need a LARGE cage, something with wire bars, a metal bottom and multiple levels for them to play on

I would reccomend Rats...but you should find a store or breeder who carries both and handle a few of each to figure out which one is better for you....do not base your choice on one persons opinion or one animals actions...

I hope this helps...GOOD LUCK!!!!

what are you wanting in a pet? fancy mice are good, they mostly never bite- and i say that because mine have NEVER bitten me, who knows, you may be the exception. they are contained so you dont have to clean the whole house from their mess. you can sit w/ them on your shoulder. if you are considering a mouse- a rat is good also. but the mouse requires a smaller cage. I would get 2 of the same sex if you get one because they are very social creatures. hope that helps answer your question.

Mice are small and easy to care for. They are acrobatic and fun to watch; be sure to have a running wheel. I used to carry a mouse on my shoulder in college.
My main problem with mice is, their urine has a very strong odor. Rats and hamsters don't smell as bad. But a lot of hamsters are grumpy. Rats are great small pets.

NO!! Mice are not that smart and they cannot see very well. Also, if for a second you drop or set down that mouse, it will try and escape.

If you want a nice rodent, try a rat. in my life i have had about 4 or 5.

Hope I helped.
