It was a very exciting time for the people.

No, it just tells you what kind of idiot is asking the question. By using the word "scoffer" they believe it lends credence to their beliefs because their holy book made the STARTLING PREDICTION that "scoffers" would poke fun at Christians ridiculous beliefs. I'll tell you this much. If that's all it takes to be a prophet, I need to start up my ministry. Because I can make a lot more detailed "prophecies" than that.

It's offensive because it's alluding to sex in a derogatory way. What other activity could we be talking about to make these ''bad'' words?? Talking about sex in this way is perfect to be offensive/obscene/etc. Of course they are only words but they carry along an immense load of social meaning.

I don't know what dazaelrasheem is talking about. The word f.u.c.k. is an acronym- for unlawful carnal knowledge. That may explain why it is the most offensive. Carnal implies a derogatory action or manifestation of a man's lower nature by definiton.

Actually, it was the prudish Victorians who made it a bad word. Before that, everyone used the f word with no qualm because it wasn't dirty and then, because saying the f word is fun and the Victorians hated fun, they made it a dirty word and now no one can say it.

The links below are the closest I could find to a history of the word- which generally explains their uses.

Words are strange because their meaning changes over time.

The links won't answer your question, but they're still pretty interesting. ;)

try googling the word "f.uck" to find the origins of it :o)

C.u.n.t is generally seen as the most offensive word though.
