first wrap it on some plastic wrap then a couple times very good wrapped in aluminum foil, the good heavy kind and then freeze it, and finally make sure that you mark it well and cover it with some piece of card board so it doesn't get smashed by storing stuff on top of it.

First you need to freeze it solid on a cookie sheet before trying to wrap it. After freezing overnight, remove and place ontop of 3 layers of plastic wrap long enough to wrap around the cake. Criss cross more layers of plastic to be sure that it is airtight and then wrap in heavy duty foil. It will also help alot if you can get a plastic freezer bag big enough to hold it or even better a plastic container. Good Luck

We are freezing the top layer of the cake. The top cake is not small so it takes up more than half of our freezer. We want to eat it on our one year anniversary because of tradition so we asked the baker to make the top cake layer with merlot. It's suppose to keep the cake edible for the one year anniversary. Good Luck and Congratulations.

Hi, and congratulations! It's simple to freeze your cake; just cover a piece of cardboard with aluminum foil, put your top layer on that, and cover it with plastic wrap-squeeze as much air out from under the wrap as you can. Then repeat the plastic wrap layers at least three more times and just make sure you secure them with masking tape or possibly clear packaging tape.
The most important thing is to make it as air-tight as possible, and to keep it frozen at 0 degrees, and (lol) not drop a 5 pound beef roast on it... if you have room, you might want to put it inside a cardboard box for extra protection.
Take it out of the freezer and let it thaw, unwrapped, for a few hours before serving. Enjoy!
Best wishes!

When my daughter got married, I froze her cake for her and the cake still tasted good for their first anniversary.
I cut waxed paper, two round circle for the top and bottom and then used a strip to wrap around the cake I then use plastic wrap and put it in a plastic cake carrier (that I bought at a dollar general store) and like I said it still good for their first anniversary. No ice crystals or ice burns on it.
Good luck, and congrats.

Don't do it.
Get a fresh one on your anniversary.
Cake is not meant to be frozen for that long and will not taste good.
