This list goes before your list of items:
1. Wide knowledge of hamster genetics! This is fundemental!
2. A place to purchase your breeder hamsters that you know are healthy and carry good genetics (a pet store is not this, and could give you more trouble down the road, look for a hamster breeder, and get your breeders from them)
3. More than two cages. Male goes in one. Female(s) in another. Babies, especially males, in another.
Next ensure the following:
1. Your male is old enough to breed.
2. Female(s) are old enough to breed
3. Bedding is not pine or cedar, thses can kill babies.
Once you have all this organized, good luck and have fun.

You need lots and lots of research an surety that you know that you really want to have a lot of hamsters. I really hope that you are not planning on selling any of them, because you will have a lot of babies, and hardly any homes.
you will need more like four cages. One needs to be pretty large, another medium, and the other two can be small.
One large size for the mommy and baby girls. One medium for the boys, and two small for the daddy and one for a sick or injured hamster.
Please do not start a "hamster farm" without more than two cages. You will also need more than one box of food and more than one male hamster. You also need a female hamster of the same kind.
I hope that you do a lot ALOT ALOT of research before you get started, because you don't want crazy, injured, or inbred hamsters.
LOTS OF RESEARCH AND ADVICE AND PLANNING IS NEEDED.

If you are looking to breed hamsters, you are going to need at least four cages.
One for mom and babies, one for dad when he's not breeding mom (so he doesn't kill the babies), and two extra cages to separate the babies (males in one cage, females in the other) when they are weaned.
If you don't have homes lined up in advance, be prepared to buy two more cages for every litter you produce. You'll find your house quickly over-run.

Just keep in mind that hamster adults will need their own cages as they will fight. That's a LOT of cages!
