i go to both of the races. the daytona 500 has the history and the speed, but the track is large and you do miss some of the action. the coca cola 600 is also a fast race but you can sere everything better because its a smaller track. plus there is more to do for a race fan in charlotte. my money is on the coca cola 600.

Daytona is amazing! I went there this past Saturday, and I wish it would never end. Daytona is definitely my pick. I wish I had been to both tracks so I could tell you for sure, but I have to wait until October, I'm probably going to the race there this year if I move to South Carolina.
What ever you pick I hope you have a great time! I did!
...And is it your first race?
I know youre a Kasey fan, and dont forget that Kasey has won the Coke 600 in the past.
p.s. As miamifanj said, night races are better. Much more exciting and you dont get sun burnt=D The way that the cars look going down the track under the lights in person is NOTHING compared to what they show on tv. You have to see it for your self. Its great, you'll have a blast! ...Especially if youre going with your best friend.

I've been to both. Daytona is known as the biggest race in NASCAR. It gets all the publicity and fanfare because of its tradition. It is very fun and you can feel the excitement in the air when you are there. The track is a little tighter and there tends to be more bumping and grinding because of it. It is a little harder to follow since the track is smaller compared to other races. Everyone should experience it at least once in their lifetime.
WIth that said, I actually prefer the Coke 600. It has a wider track and is definitely easier to follow our favorite driver, Kasey Kahne (Go Kasey). They have a number of great pre- race activities and its a longer race so you see more racing. Plus, its a night race which brings in a different element in racing. All of the speed at night under the lights, its amazing. Being at night, the weather isn't as warm as an afternoon race tends to be and is way more comfortable.
So, I say go see the Coke 600, but make sure you go to Daytona sometime in your lifetime.......Hope this helps....

Daytona 500 - much more historically significant. In 50 years there may not be a Coca-Cola 600, but if there's NASCAR there will always be a Daytona 500.
