alongside the coast, Southern California turns into efficient California at component theory in basic terms north of Santa Barbara. As you progression inland, Southern California ends a million/2-way around the chilly Spring Canyon Bridge alongside the Chumash highway (CA 154) between Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez.

Myself personally I think central Cali starts at Bakersfield. It is when you really start to hit the country areas out side of LA County. Although I have friends from that area and the Bay and they call themselves “NorCal” even though they are obviously central. Go figure.

There's got to be a joke here somewhere, but I haven't found it yet.

OK, OK---A Central California guy goes in a Southern California Bar, with a parrot on his shoulder.
The bartender says---"That's the dumbest thing I ever seen"
The parrot says " I know but he's my ride"...

This is going to be harder than I thought...

My most educated guess would be San Luis Obispo (west) and Bakersfield (east). The news and weather there calls itself Central CA.

On the coast, the dividing line is Pt. Conception. The ocean conditions are very different (and water temps too) depending on which side of the point you are on. Also, the fishing zones divide off there as well, as that's where two major ocean currents collide. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/fishing_map.html

That depends on whether you go by the map, or tradition. By the map, it would be Sacramento/San Francisco. Traditionally, it would be Bakersfield and the surrounding valley area.

Break the state, any state, into thirds, south, middle and north. Unless of course your from Michigan as I am then it's the U.P. and the L.P., for upper and lower peninsulas, respectively.
