In today's age , I think it's completely fine to wear one. Traditionally, it was a sign of marriage or religion. In Tantra, the bindi is worn to protect against bad luck while improving concentration and energy. However, in modern times, and especially in Western culture, it's become a fashion accessory for any race or religion. I know the Hare Krishnas often wear them and so do alot of people who are into renaissance and belly dancing. I think Madonna and Shakira have worn bindis before and I know I've seen Gwen Stefani wearing one. I've also seen alot of young women at music festivals wear them. I think they are very beautiful and becoming and I would say definately go for it! And I do think it's very kind for you to show concern before wearing something you're unsure of.

I'm not Indian either, and I wear them from time to time. I usually wear them for belly dance performances lately, which I've seen many non-Indians do. I met 2 traditional Indian dancers one night at an art event I was dancing at too, and they even complimented the bindi I had. I don't think you'll offend anyone, if that's your concern. (I've purchased some bindis from an Indian woman before too.)

Is that the little dot in the middle of the forehead? I believe that it is a religious symbol of some kind and not purely decorative. I would say no.

Bindis or Bindi-eyes are a prickly thorn that grows in the grass and get stuck in your feet if you walk around without shoes. Steve Irwin named his daughter after them for some unknown reason. Why would you want to wear them?

I guess, but why would you want to? I mean if its not part of your culture. If it is then more power to you.

Who cares. Does it make you happy? Then do it, as long as it doesn't hurt any one. The Truth.
