Today, I purchased a watermelon from my local grocery store. It isn't rotten but, it's EXTREMEY ripe/over ripe. I still have the receipt.....would you return it?

I did take it back. They offered me a choice if a replacement or my money back.

Thank you all for your input! I truly appreciate all the responses.

Most certainly return it. It is your hard money that bought it, Get a refund, You really can't tell if a watermelon is A-OK before bringing it home if it was not cut. I would not get another one at that same store, because more than likely they are all like that.

well if you knew how to check for the watermelons ripeness you would not have that problem. You may try but doubt you will receive another or any cash back

No. I've bought fruits that don't come up to par for various reasons but have never returned any.

If it is sweet, I'd either freeze or make popsicles out of it using a blender and little wax cups and popsicle sticks.

If you return it successfully -- get credit and buy another fruit or have someone help you pick a good one out.

No because with food you can tell what your buying. Its not like you bit into it and there were bugs. It just happend to be ripe. Its part of the cusumers job to pick a not so ripe one. Hope it helps.

andrew is absolutely correct, if a customer doesn't know how to properly choose ripe produce then that is not the store's fault.

yes. the sooner you take it back the more likely the store is to exchange it or refund your money.
