I don't like tomatos. So when a recipe calls for tomato paste or sauce or ketchup...what can I substitute?

You can use brown stock or vegetable broth if tomato is being used to add body or gravy to the dish or, skip it all together.

Hope this helps.

That depends on the recipe - for example if you are making Spanish rice just sub chicken or vegetable stock. If you want to make pasta use a pesto or cream sauce, for Pizza use pesto or creme fresh (really with salmon it's amazing) or just olive oil. Really it is just about being creative and trying new flavors to sub for the standard. Have fun!!

I would steer clear of recipes with tomato as the "main" ingredient. Otherwise, just omit tomato all together.

I wonder if pesto might sometimes be a reasonable substitute? For example, it's great on pizza and on pasta.
