structured exersise and cut way back on food. Feed him once a day in the evening and only 1 cup. He can still run next too your 4 wheeler, put him on a lease and only go fast enough for a steady trot and start out at 10 to 15 minutes 2 x a day and slowly increase the distance and time

First, take him to a vet to rule out hypothyroidisim. If his coat is kind of cruddy on top of his weight gain, this is a strong possibility. After he is checked for any health problems, the vet can recommend a good weight control diet and perscribe how much to feed. I'm glad you are so concerned for your dog's health. Being overweight puts a lot of stress on his joints and ligaments.

Cut back on his food and exercise him regularly.May need to see a vet to determine the amount he should be fed in order to lose....also,dividing his meal into two meals will make him feel "not-so-hungry" with the sudden cutback on the food supply.Cut out the treats, and feed only a decent dry dog food.

Vets sell special food for overweight dogs. Get some and feed her about 4 times a day, but smaller amounts. The vet will tell you how much.

Well, for one whatever you were feeding him is wrong for him, so stop that and speak to your vet about a healthy diet for him.
You can still take him for walks, the more the better, depending on his age.
More excersize and less food is a good start.

Sorry, but if your dog is fat, that is YOUR fault. Don't let your dog eat so much!!! Simple solution! You are the human and it is your responsibility to care for this dog and you are at fault for it being too fat.

Who has been giving him food??? He is getting too much food, that is why he has gained weight. Cut way back.

And please look at and love your dog anyway. He needs love even though he has been given too much food. It is not he who is responsible for this. It is the person who feeds him.

Please help your dog. He is miserable and does not understand why you don't love him anymore.

walk him, they love it, in the early evening or in the morning when it's not so hot, make him go after toys in the house if you have room, if you have a treadmill put a leash on him and make him walk, cut back on his food by putting can veggies in it, it fills them up with all the calories (get the low salt cans)
