One way I feel the 4 Gospels should be read. Is to read the harmony of Gospels or the Parallel.... The harmony has all four books side by side. so you get the whole story.. The parallel are the three books without the book of John.
Then there is the concordance.. This is a book of all the words in the bible.
example the word judge, do ment, ed, etc
and you will find out with careful study that we are to judge,, not the flesh but the out birth of evil that will become of the act..
you must also be very careful, if you read the K.J.V. 1611 version you must use Strong's version, your bible has to match the concordance for different word changes in your bible to another version..

Regardless of what people will tell you, I believe that the best way to study the Bible or any scripture is by reading it aside of other texts, summaries, commentaries and so forth. I have learned this from first hand experience. When you read commentaries you are reading someone else's interpretation and possibly revelation. I have read lots of commentaries and so forth and I decided that I wanted to receive my own revelation and learn for myself. So often in the scriptures is found the invitation, "ask and ye shall receive". One of my favorite scriptures says,"Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark." I understand this to mean that as I read the scriptures and experience difficulty understanding, then I need to pray and ask my Heavenly Father to help me understand. I have applied this, and know that this is a process of receiving personal revelation from God. Now, because I do not read commentaries, does that mean that I discredit them and advise people to stay away from them? No. My dad, on the other hand, loves to read them as references whenever he has questions.

I find that if I study in bites instead of chunks that I remember what I'm reading and learning longer. Like right now I am using the net to find verses on different subjects and memorizing one verse at a time like promises so it becomes a part of me.

Rather than reading it in a linear chapter by chapter way, try reading it by topic. Bible Gateway has a great search engine: http://www.biblegateway.com/ Simply type in whatever topic you are interested in and it will pull up all quotes that pertain to that topic. That way you are able to read the bible thematically.

LECTIO DIVINA: A VERY ANCIENT art, practiced at one time by all Christians, is the technique known as lectio divina - a slow, contemplative praying of the Scriptures which enables the Bible, the Word of God, to become a means of union with God. This ancient practice has been kept alive in the Christian monastic tradition, and is one of the precious treasures of Benedictine monastics and oblates. Together with the Liturgy and daily manual labor, time set aside in a special way for lectio divina enables us to discover in our daily life an underlying spiritual rhythm. Within this rhythm we discover an increasing ability to offer more of ourselves and our relationships to the Father, and to accept the embrace that God is continuously extending to us in the person of his Son Jesus Christ.

If you are a disciple of Jesus Christ, read and believe only in the Words he spoke, the Words contained in the 4 Gospels, Daniel and Revelation.
Jesus will guide you to His true Words, and their true meaning, do not listen to the churches.
THE FIRST THING find out who the God of Moses is. Jesus tells you.
