Sure they can...there are plenty of Christians (and Muslims and other religions) in scientific professions like medicine, chemistry, and physics. In fact, one of the greatest scientists in recent memory, Albert Einstein, had this to say about religion and science...

"...I do not think that it is necessarily the case that science and religion are natural opposites. In fact, I think that there is a very close connection between the two. Further, I think that science without religion is lame and, conversely, that religion without science is blind. Both are important and should work hand-in-hand. It seems to mc that whoever doesn't wonder about the truth in religion and in science might as well be dead."

The problems occur because many scientists attempt to use science to answer questions that belong in the realm of religion. More specifically, scientists that don't believe in God use science to attempt to disprove his existence. With that fundamental assumption in place, they end up elevating their science to a religion (in other words, they start treating matters of faith as facts in their equations).

Religion doesn't " force" me to do anything. You also fail to recognize that the Lord is not any one religion. The major religions all speak of one Lord, which is then diluted into separate identities and downgraded into some human form. Let's face it people; the Lord does not have to prove existence by coming down in some form or reincarnation. The creator of the UNIVERSE does not have to prove anything. What the Lord has done however, was to create a world so perfectly balanced, meticulously designed to sustain life in an ever expanding universe equally as marvelous that one cannot fathom it forming from a random series of events. Science cannot explain how the genetic code, so complex and intricately woven to produce life can be the product of well, absolutely nothing. You would think, being the rational skeptic, that there is surmountable evidence that we did not come from apes and that the cosmos, so perfectly derived, was not an accident. To believe that would be irrational even from a scientific view.

Acutally EINSTEIN was great Believer. He taught Us to see how much marvellous is the Divine Creation, Which, he also said, would not be possible to be completely known. So: I guess it is the RIGHT example to say that Science and "Religion" (= believing in God) are two things which perfectly match together. ABOVE ALL, a Scientist like Einstein, was a scientist right because he was "in Love with God" and wanted to know better about It and Its Creation .... INNER LIGHT!

Islam kept science and philosophy alive for hundreds of years while Europe was in the dark ages. Islam has a much much much better track record at being able to be in balance with logic than Christianity does. I keep hoping that you all will figure out how you were able to do that and share the secret with us.

From what I have been able to learn that God,The Bible and science do honor each other if you are looking at it through the right "lens". Like maybe scientists to some degree are matching the story of the creation story in Genesis. I am sure that as a Muslim your holy scriptures have a similiar story. I know in the Christian Bible I think in the new Testament it says that nature speaks of her Creator to the one who looks very closely.

Science is not the only logic, as some might say. And the only reason it is fact, is because you can test it, and get physical answers.

Religion can "mix" with science, if people just open up to it. Like theist evolution(or what not....there is a page about it on wikipedia)

Science is a discipline used to understand nature.

Religion is something that was made up to explain that which could not be understood.

so, they should cover separate realms.

They run into trouble when religion is used to try to deny what science has shown or when science is used to justify things that it really has no say over.

Other than that they shouldn't have any problems with each other.

'Knowledge' is the enemy of religion... look up 'God of the Gaps'. Since science is a primary source of knowledge, religion seeks to undermine it, hinder it and, if possible, destroy it. History is ALSO a key source of knowledge. religion has centuries of experience in distorting and misrepresenting history, and is attempting to thwart science using some of those same skills. Science, for its part, is essentially oblivious to religion... it doesn't even know its in a fight... and, unfortunately, will probably not realize it's in a fight until it is too late.

Science is perfect and exists because they are the laws of nature created by God. They mix perfectly - We just don't have an perfect understanding yet! :D (also, due to the many mistranslations of the bible, 'religion' is sometimes a little... how can i say? imperfect.

There is no reason science does not prove many things about creation. The problem comes in when godless people misinterpret what they study, i.e. they leave God completely out of the equation.
